Ben Carson Fabricated Violent Juvenile Past, CNN Investigation Suggests

Ben Carson has made his transformation from a violent boy to soft-spoken, responsible adult a cornerstone of his campaign, but a CNN investigation found no evidence to back up Carson’s claims of being a problem child.

On the campaign trail, the former neurosurgeon has recounted being an angry juvenile in his native Detroit — stabbing, throwing rocks at people, hurling bricks and beating others with baseball bats.

But through interviews with nine former classmates and friends, CNN was unable to verify any incidents supporting those claims.

One former classmate told the network: “I don’t know nothing about that… it would have been all over the whole school.” Another classmate told CNN, “I personally do not have knowledge of those incidents… I wondered, ‘When did that happen?'”

A former friend of Carson said if he was as big a hothead as he described, it wouldn’t be a secret.”He got through his day trying not to be noticed… I remember him having a pocket saver. He had thick glasses. He was skinny and unremarkable.”

CNN was unable to independently confirm any of the incidents, which Carson said occurred when he was a juvenile,” CNN reporters Scott Glover and Maeve Reston wrote in their online account.

Carson’s campaign declined to provide the network with any corroborating evidence of his violent past, calling the CNN investigation a “witch hunt.”

“Why would anyone cooperate with your obvious witch hunt?” campaign adviser Armstrong Williams wrote in an email last Friday. “No comment and moving on…… Happy Halloween!!!!!”

Carson is leading the RealClearPolitics average of national polls for the first time, narrowly edging Donald Trump 24.8 to to 24.6.

Who says that someone was "unremarkable" in high school?Laugh Just weird.

Is this where Carson's campaign does a Herman Cain? Why on earth, if he did, make up that you stabbed someone? Also just weird if he made it up. But I told someone a few months back that Carson reminds me of a sociopath. Interested to see how this turns out. CNN seems to be holding something back.

Ben Carson Just Admitted to a Serious Lie

This one’s a doozy.

In a shocking turn of events following a rough few days, retired neurosurgeon and Republican presidential favorite Dr. Ben Carson just admitted that he fabricated the story that he was admitted to West Point, the United States’ Army’s military academy.

The story was originally published in Carson’s best-selling 1990 biography “Gifted Hands,” according to Politico, which broke the news of the fabrication. In the book, Carson said he met with General William Westmoreland, a key figure in the Vietnam War, in 1969. He claimed that the meeting was followed by an offer of a “full scholarship” to West Point.

West Point told Politico, though, that it had no record of Carson being admitted. When confronted with these facts, Carson’s campaign manager Barry Bennett admitted that the scholarship offer was a lie in an e-mail to Politico:

Dr. Carson was the top ROTC student in the City of Detroit. In that role he was invited to meet General Westmoreland. He believes it was at a banquet. He can’t remember with specificity their brief conversation but it centered around Dr. Carson’s performance as ROTC City Executive Officer. He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors. They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission.”

This could be a huge blow to the Carson campaign. He’s made his gains mostly with Evangelical Christian voters, the same types who tend to be fiercely patriotic and pro-military. Lying about admission to the West Point just won’t sit well with them, in addition to simply making him harder to trust.

Well, at least he fessed up to this one. There's still something off about him.

Article claims that Carson said he was "offered a full scholarship at West Point" and then derides him for lying about admission to "the West Point".

Obviously Carson did not apply to West Point and he did not go to West Point. Therefore, he was never admitted to West Point. So what's the lie?

He's just established a pattern of stretching the truth. But this is politics. You can't reject what wasn't offered. Westmoreland may have been a lock to get him in by helping him secure the right nomination. But he was not in a position to offer a scholarship to be rejected. This is just more of Carson embellishing the truth apparently like he did with the "stabbing" incident.

There's a certain narrative that he and the press want to present about the background he came from and where he got to. It demands that he stretch a few things and he obviously has.

It's like being in a helicopter in the line of fire when your helicopter was nowhere near any firing.Cool

I read the politico article. I wasn't impressed. Anyone digging can find someone in any of our histories to contradict what we say. Add to that, they went looking for evidence in places where none was ever claimed to be. Journalism run amuck (or should I just say, it's the new norm!)

Ben Carson is a problem for the Democrats and their super PAC the MSM because they have 3 accusations they throw at all Conservatives in some fashion. They are either dumb, evil, or biggotted. Well trying to throw any of those lables at Dr. Carson is just ludicrous. They can't say he is dumb, since he was a neurosurgeon and head of John Hopkins. They can't say he is biggotted because he is black. So that leaves them with trying to make the guy who separated conjoined twins is evil, and even there they are forced to make up stories because apparently for Dr. Carson lying means he is evil. Never mind that their women lies all the time and people have died and gone to prison because of her lies. The media over played their hand on this issue and I am glad that they are getting called out over it.

The mainstream media's lying is unacceptable period. Unless of course their lies support the narratives "our team" has fallen for.

He was never going to make it any ways, but this is probably why the MSM has stepped up going for Carson's throat:

http://dailycaller.com/2015/11/04/carson-destroys-hillary-head-to-head-in-new-poll/

They protect their own. I don't think Carson even really wanted to run in the first place, he was dragged into it after what he said at that prayer breakfast last year. But these "lies" are lame - the MSM is trying to act like Carson is a big exaggerator, with that personality? The West Point thing has been addressed, the knife fight incident dispute is just weird - why would he lie about that and so what if nobody remembers it, that doesn't follow that it never happened. Then the hiding of white kids in high school, in high school??? And Yale does offer Perception classes, the MSM is small and petty and really scrambling here.

It may get him to drop out, since I think he was reluctant all the while, but he may dig in his heels and I hope he does. Carson used to be way more interested in promoting his books than running for office and he recently stopped campaigning to do just that. The media still wants John Ellis Bush for Hillary fodder.

It is sad what the media does to black people; look what they did to Herman Cain.

More women accused Bill Clinton with harassment and HE got to be President. White privilege indeed.

Laughable for sure. This hit is coming from within the GOP. They've let him have his fun. Time to start reeling him back in .

And as I said many times before, if you don't love Jesus and people and favor killing unborn babies or born adults, you can't have my vote.

Politico Admits Fabricating A Hit Piece On Ben Carson

Politico's editorial staff on Friday conceded that entire basis of attack on Carson was invented out of whole cloth.

NOVEMBER 6, 2015 By Mollie Hemingway
Politico‘s Kyle Cheney admitted that he fabricated a negative story about Ben Carson. At least, according to his own standards, he admitted the grievous journalistic sin.

In a story published early on Friday, Politico’s Kyle Cheney authored a piece headlined “Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship” with a subhed “Carson’s campaign on Friday conceded that a central point in his inspirational personal story did not occur as he previously described.”

There were at least five major problems with the story:

The headline was completely false
The subhed was also completely false
The opening paragraph was false false false
The substance of the piece was missing key exonerating information
The article demonstrated confusion about service academy admissions and benefits
But other than that, A+++ work, Kyle Cheney and Politico.

Zaac - you don't want us to vote for Carson. I get that. I understand that. If we shouldn't vote for him, if we shouldn't vote for Trump, if we shouldn't vote for Hillary or Bernie - who should we vote for?
