And Ron Desantis. I am an independent, so I can only vote for him in the general election. Right now he has my vote.

I would be curious among those who might be voting in the Republican Party presidential primary in 2024, if it came down to a choice between Ron DeSantis vs. Donald Trump, for whom would you vote?

A. The Ronald
or
B. The Donald

Right now, with 2 years to go and amid a new flurry of bad press, 44% of ALL REGISTERED VOTERS approve of Donald Trump. Is there really any chance that the candidate in 2024 will be someone else? Which of the candidates in the OP could defeat Trump in a Republican Primary challenge?

I think a TRUMP vs HARRIS in 2024 election is virtually inevitable.

Personally, I would like to see a moderate Latino Republican candidate for President just to shake up the tired, old, stagnant image of the party. I’d like to see a Black, Christian Business Owner standing up as a spokesperson for the Republican Party for once. The party of Abraham Lincoln needs to get back to its roots and regain some of its lost fire for DOING WHAT IS RIGHT for people. Enough empty words, we have long since passed the time when ACTION was needed.

TRUMP was obnoxious, but his rhetoric about the swamp needing draining was not wrong.

Which of the candidates in the OP could defeat Trump in a Republican Primary challenge?

"According to polling numbers released on Wednesday by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, 39% of likely Republican primary voters in the Granite State would support the first-term Florida governor, with 37% backing the former president. ...

The survey suggests support among New Hampshire Republicans for DeSantis is surging. Trump held a 43%-18% advantage in support of DeSantis the last time the UNH Survey Center asked a 2024 GOP presidential nomination preference question, in October of last year. Trump topped DeSantis 47%-19% in UNH’s survey last July. ...

The poll indicates DeSantis with a massive 66% net favorability among likely GOP primary voters, ahead of Trump’s 46% net favorability."

Granted, the primaries -start in about 18 months - but a lot can happen in that time. Think "Oct Surprise"
(that's one reason I do not like early voting"

If there was no early voting, nor voting by mail except for necessity, do you think that the States and localities could open up enough polling locations and get enough poll workers to handle 160 million voters all voting on one day? Would you be willing to possibly stand in line for 8 hours to vote?

Right now, if Trump is the nominee I will vite for him. However, if he wins he can only serve one term. For that reason I prefer a candidate who can serve two terms.

I find it rather amazing after all these decades of the internet that a secure system has not yet been rolled out so that we can vote from the convenience of our homes.

I agree with your line of thought. However I would really like to see a Trump/DeSantis ticket. Trump knows the ins & outs now. He won’t be fooled by backstabbers & rino’s like the last time. I believe Trump erroneously thought he could work with people for the betterment of the country, but he soon learned they were not interested in that. Trump will get right to work righting the ship. Won’t hurt DeSantis to be ‘the apprentice’ for a term.

Ben Sasse

Sasse has been a man of integrity, upholding the Constitution even against ruthless bullies in the Nationalist (Fascist) Right.

I always wondered how they come up with such results. How do they know that 44% of all registered voters approve of Donald Trump?
