“There are six things which Jehovah hateth; Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood; A heart that deviseth wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief, A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭6:16-19‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Not necessarily a "loose your salvation" passage this one has always bothered me depending on how I'm doing in my relationship with the Lord and which teacher I'm listening to.

"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift,
and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God,
and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away,
to renew them again unto repentance;
seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,
and put him to an open shame..."
Hebrews 6:4-6

This would be an excellent thread if we can clear up some of these.

"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received knowledge of the truth,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation,
which shall devour the adversaries."
Hebrews 10:26-27

According to Jesus the situation in Jerusalem was approaching A.D. 70’s destruction of the temple. Because Christianity remained to be a sect of Judaism the Jewish believers were facing hot persecution from their Jewish brethren. In order to avoid detection some believing Jews thought it was an option for them to keep their faith in Yeshua secret while they continued living under the economic system of the Jewish Temple ran by the Sanhedrin. If they could just hide until the persecution died down. The writer of Hebrews is writing to the Jewish church with Jesus’ prophecy of the A.D. 70 judgement in mind. He tells them that if they remain in the city when the Roman army attacks that their remains no sacrifice for sin, they cannot do what they’re thinking about. If they attempt that strategy they will perish with the non believing Jews in the city.

Josephus records that when Titus attempted to take Jerusalem that trouble within forced a break during the siege and that allowed many Jews to flee the city and he says that no Jewish followers of Jesus died when the Romans returned and finished the job. That means that the audience whom Hebrews was addressing heeded the warning and did not do what they had thought to do, to disguise their faith.

The warning is for physical judgement and not loss of eternal salvation.

Contextually speaks to the prophecy made by the Lord’s Olivet Discourse and the soon coming catastrophic destruction of life for Jews in Jerusalem. The story of the demoniac who left his home and returned with 7 buddies finding it swept and garnished but empty is as Jesus put it “so shall it be for this wicked generation.” John the Baptist did the sweeping but because of the unpardonable sin committed by that generation Israel was left empty and the latter part of her was worse than before when only one demon had control. Now, the Jews would no longer have their own judiciary and economic system of the functioning temple within their subjugation to Rome. The latter state was indeed far worse than before MT 12.
Again, the penalty here is a warning of death by Roman invasion not loss of spiritual salvation.

22Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.

Someone explain what is "REALLY" saying....

“For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in;”

He is saying we can be Presbyterian brethren, Baptist brethren, Methodist or any kind of brethren except for one kind - ignorant brethren.

The context of the olive tree is that it belongs to Israel but they were unfaithful and thus Gentiles are now grafted into the place of spiritual blessings, the tree. Gentiles should recognize their place and understand that they are to provoke Jews to jealousy by living for the Jewish Messiah. If they act like overtakers rather than partakers then they can too be cut off from spiritual blessings of fruit bearing, not from salvation which would be impossible.
