Best TV show series

There is currenlyt a show like that on sci fi channel, it's newer, not the old one, not that I ever saw the old ones. I did watch one episode of this one, it stunk.

 

Interesting. When was the last time you saw Doctor Who on Sci-Fi?

Also, what's your problem with Doctor Who? It's won some prestigious awards in the UK for excellence, so please enlighten me as to why it stinks.

What a riot that was, and it made me remember another that I haven't seen in years. Can't remember it's name but it was set in a hotel and had John Cleese in it - dry wit, lousy staff . . was it Fawlty Towers???

 

Of current series, I like Lost and 24 the most, although neither seems as good this season. I also usually enjoy Mythbusters.

All of the versions of Law & Order :thumbs:

 

I don't watch much modern live action drama, but Ugly Betty was a great concept, which has gained its understandable recognition. The premise is about a person who really is fashionably challenged working at a center of fashion: a a fashion magazine, and of course, the morale is that despite looks, that workd is shallow, while she is real. (I don't even see her as "ugly"; she actually has a very pretty face and smile, and that innocent "giddy" look; so it's just the braces, the eyebrows and the clothes, which are all cosmetic anyway).

Of course, the drawback is all the immorality they are contantly springing on it. First, the openly gay coworker, then the gay-in-training little nephew; the point often being made that "this is just who he is". Then, more recently, the boss' trans-gender brother, and a straight fashion designer who pretends to be gay to make it in the fashion world.

Then, the heterosexual sin, which is common to most other shows. Betty's love interests are encouraged, though the boss is now being portrayed as overdoing it, and has now taken to drugs to try to get unaddicted to sex. And the Vanessa Williams character, whose every move is just to advance her career.
One good promise which was dashed was when the nephew's father, alarmed at what his son was becoming, decides to marry the mother and begins teaching his son to act like a boy instead of a girl, but is finally killed off in the season finale.

It's a very captivating premise and storyline, whose plot gets thicker every show, but I am glad I have moved away from TV; it further illustrates how they are really pushing all of this homosexual stuff on a society that already believes there are no absolutes except for "live and let live".

Other than that, my wife was into Everybody Loves Raymond, which is about the ups and downs of marriage; so we could relate to it. I think we have seen them all, so we haven't been watching it as much lately.

Otherwise, for me; it's just news and cartoons (mostly 70's and older), and occasional talk shows, science shows or documentaries, when a subject I'm interested in comes up. One new cartoon that I also found to have a good, people-oriented format is Ed, Edd & Eddy. It's just funny the way they interact, with Eddy coming up with all these cheap "scams", and the brainy Edd, and big dumb Ed, and the other kids and their peculiarities.
But this series too is winding down, recently airing what was for now billed as its last episode, though a movie is in the works, and possibly a few more episodes thrown in next year.

I don't watch enough TV....

 

My wife is British and we were stationed over there for a few years and we loved Only Fools and Horses. We still have some of the tapes. Did you also like Steptoe & Son? I kind of liked Mr. Bean as well. And who says that the British don't have a sense of humor?

However, the 3 Stooges are still my favorite. I have most of their episodes on Tape, DVD, or on the DVR.

 

I could probably find Steptoe and Son on youTube when I have the time...however all that I know about it is that one character was Paul's 'Grandfather' in the Beetle's first movie...acording to my Papa...ok It's not that I didn't watch enough TV, but I didn't get to watch the Good shows in my opinion, because I always had to share the set...now I'm the only one who remembers when my friends were hooked on "digimon" and "Thundercats..."


I What I really look forward to is how popular my TV shows will be! One isn't even aimed for the U.S.!

I used to watch more sci fi, but then it began to turn into a soap opera in space, in most cases. I'm not interested in the conversations...give me exploration and new ideas and a sense of wonder....like the first Star Trek series did, once upon a time. Oh, and no puppets!

I must admit, my Christian brothers and sisters, that I occasionally watch parts of certain reality TV shows. /cry
