Hello,
I hope you do not mind this thread. I still am hesitant to post here as I believe I am Baptist in the sense of Baptism by immersion and believing someone should having understanding of what it is all about or why they are doing it, or most likely be saved first, because they should be getting baptized because they believe in Jesus, and are then Baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I do not consider myself a Baptist though, I just consider myself a Christian. But anyways sorry that you have to get used to my anxiety.
I am wondering about what you recommend as the best way to study, read, grow in the Bible and God.
I am most familiar with reading the Bible by itself like I would read anything else. Though I should not rely on my previous experience as I took something like a 10 year absence from doing it, so I need to get a foundation again.
However, I feel that I didn't learn a lot of organized doctrine before, and that that could be helpful.
I don't know how to determine the best people to read after and so on, as it seems each popular name has something they believed that seems unscriptural to me. I want to get things right though, no matter how cherished a belief of mine, I do not want to believe something unless it is God's truth.
I do not know what meditating on the Bible really means either.
So ya I guess just, how to read the Bible, to study it, and find what other resources, whether books, sermons, commentaries, letters, or what not of who to read.
Thank you for any help.
