So you admit that you do not believe that Proverbs 16:9 is true when it says that God directs man's steps.

God directing our steps is not God controlling our steps but as per usual you and Austin continue to make wild assertions. You want a puppet master type God but that is not what we find in the bible so He has to come from your imagination.

I notice you will not address God's word.
Until you do, we have nothing to say to each other.

As I said you are trusting in the fruit of a bad tree called paganism which came to you through Augustine and Calvin. Austin I quote you scripture and you deny it so tell me who is not addressing scripture? You do not want truth you want Calvinism.

Silverhair, you are so into making excuses for your bad theology that about all that is left for me to say to you in this long-in-the-tooth thread is:

Is that your family photo? Must be as it just shows you repeating your mindless comments over and over again.

LOL, your post here is one of the dumbest posts I have read at the BB.
However, you prove my point about you.
You have no biblically legitimate argument so you pick up your straw man and argue a fallacy.

Just stating facts that you can check out if you are so inclined which I doubt that you are. The truth is not what you are looking for but rather just for someone to justify your errant view.

Augustine philosophy came from four sources Stoicism, Neoplatonism, Gnosticism and Manichaeism and Calvin swallowed his teachings hook line and sinker. Do a bit of research and see what the root of your theology is. Not a straw-man just facts but you never let facts interfere with your narrative do you.

What Bible fact have you stated?
Nothing.
You have gone straight to historic figures that you disdain. You cannot quote anything they have said, that you disdain, but you disdain them anyway. Moreso, when a person explains to you why your Bible interpretation is wrong and shows you the context of the verse, you don't argue the verse, you go right back to an historic figures and their name, then you tell your opponent how they are not being biblical. Sliverhair, your argument is laughably bad.

When I tell you what a verse means in the context you reject it since it does not follow your Gnostic philosophy. It really is sad that you are so unwilling to learn. The foundation of your theology is tainted by paganism and you expect that I should trust what you say regarding scripture. Not going to happen.

Let's look at this passage and you interpret it for us:

*Revelation 5:6-14*
And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

You maybe being funny. But ithat is not helpful. Assuming you were correct in your view. This type of response helps no one understand what ever truth.

I need to stop responding to anything posted by @Silverhair and @Van. Been trying to stay away from commenting on their posts but it gets hard to resist chiming in. :D

They and I have gone round and round so much over theology that we are now pretty much just rehashing what we have already posted toward each other.

Well lets cut to the chase as the only verse that you really care about is 9. And actually only part of that verse "For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,". The four terms {tribe, tongue, people & nation} speak to the universality of redemption. We see this also in 1Jn 2:2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

You for some reason you think you have to find some secret meaning in every text where I do not. The Holy Spirit intended for man to be able to understand His words and that without a decoder ring.

So while you think everything has to be interpreted the reality is that you just have to believe what God has written.

Excellent passage. The Lamb ransomed - actually ransomed, not potentially ransomed if they fulfilled some condition(s) themselves - and the Lamb made - actually made them, not potentially made them if they fulfilled some condition(s) themselves - a kingdom and priests.

Christ said that some people are given knowledge and some people are not given knowledge:

Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

So it seems that you really do not trust that the Holy Spirit knew what He wanted to say. You have to read into the text what your theology requires. Bad form there old man but about what I expected from you.

Your comments just show that you must be one of those that the Holy Spirit did not give the knowledge to.

I do not follow your Gnostic philosophy so I do not have to find some deep or hidden meaning in what the bible says. I will leave the eisegesis to you.

Since you must have missed what I posted before I will give it to you again.

Funny how you have not posted your your interpretation of the verse, in its context. What secret meaning do you find in those words. You treat the bible as if the whole thing has been written in code.
