Biden calls for nationwide outdoor mask requirement

Then I read coronavirus experts say people should be prepared to wear masks for YEARS to come.

I figure three months after a vaccine has been approved by the U.S. government that we will have had sufficient time to get the vaccine to our most vulnerable - those in nursing homes, prisons, with compromised immune systems, and old folks like me. I think we can forget the masks after that as far as any mandates are concerned and just leave it up to individual judgment.

Coronavirus expert says Americans will be wearing masks for ‘several years’
Dont expect the magic vaccine to change the mask mandate any time soon. Policies wont adapt quick. They will claim the vaccine is only xx% effective leaving xx% unprotected... that is an easy possibility. Plus they may say not everyone can receive the vaccine due to age or health and expect it to elicit antibody response.

Corona is not a major problem in prisons.

On the news tonight, 1 in 4 people tested in Texas are positive for covid virus. YET, the news also is saying hospitalizations are DOWN. Once we get past 50% of people testing positive for Covid, there will develop the natural herd immunity. Eventually the virus may have infected almost everyone at the rate things are going, once everyone is infected, everyone either gets over it or dies, then the vaccine is almost worthless. One theory on why the medieval plaque died out was it infected and killed off everyone it could leaving behind a more immune population. They did a genetic study of a village in England who did well during that time and they identified they have a gene that protected them from the plague versus others of their time. Anyway, the survivors get to reproduce their genes throughout the entire population. Another way viruses loose their potency, their mutations survive in the general population because their mutation allows more people to live, since if the virus kills off too many people, it also kills itself off and cant infect anymore people as it becomes extinct. I have read the covid virus has already mutated into many different strains, so it is easy to understand it has become more survivable, less deadly that it was 6 months ago. the more deadly strains died off became extinct. The news shows still continue to hype up how deadly this is, but we are not seeing as many hospitalizations or deaths, so they are out of touch with reality. And Sweden which did things entirely differently has overcome the virus as a nation.

Herd immunity may not be attainable and relying upon it to protect us would carry a terrible toll.

Sweden's policy of allowing the controlled spread of COVID-19 viral infection among the population has so far failed to deliver the country's previously stated goal of herd immunity.

It is clear that not only are the rates of viral infection, hospitalization and mortality (per million population) much higher than those seen in neighboring Scandinavian countries, but also that the time-course of the epidemic in Sweden is different, with continued persistence of higher infection and mortality well beyond the few critical weeks period seen in Denmark, Finland and Norway." He added that in these countries, rapid lock-down measures brought in from early March seem to have been initially more successful in curtailing the infection surge and thus the malign consequences of COVID-19 on the country as a whole.

Our hospitals are full of covid cases. We have a friend who was rushed again to the hospital (for covid). He could not breathe but after being on oxygen for awhile was sent home. Hopefully he is on the mend. My cousin is struggling now as well, but did not need to be hospitalized (she works in the public). A friend's brother died of covid (no other health conditions we know of). A coworker has it (her son went to Atlanta, came back and now the family has it but no complications so far).

Strange how areas are so different. For a long time we had very few issues while other areas had problems. We had covid beds but no one in the hospital for covid.

This too shall pass.

Sweden split on coronavirus immunity
The swedes themselves dont agree that their policy is worse than other countries lockdowns.
Is Sweden’s coronavirus strategy working after all?

And of course countries that locked down are going to defend their own decisions and attack those who did something else, medical people are just as tyrannical as their politicians about their decisions.
https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/87812

For instance, a study by the Karolinska Institute and Karolinska University Hospital recently found that about 30% of people with mild or asymptomatic COVID showed T-cell-mediated immunity to the virus, even though they tested negative for antibodies.

"This figure is [more than] twice as high as the previous antibody tests, meaning that the public immunity to COVID-19 is probably much higher than what antibody studies have suggested," Ding told MedPage Today. "This is of course very good news from a public health perspective, as it shows that people with negative antibody test results could still be immune to the virus at a cellular level."

What is meant by an "outdoors" requirement?
“Every American should be wearing a mask when they’re outside for the next three months at a minimum,” Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Del.
Meaning wear a mask all the time, outdoors with an unending timeframe.

No matter the distance from other people?

Looks that way to me. They will argue you never know when you will run into someone.
They could also say, animals can spread covid.
They will be tyrannical about their decisions, that is how they work, no room for dissent.
No privilege for freedom, the left does not tolerate dissent.

I see some people today riding bikes (kids too), driving cars alone, walking alone, working outside alone wearing masks. Elect Biden, you will be required to wear a mask most all the time.

Why just masks? Why not bubble suits in which all of us breathe our own supply of pure oxygen? And then helmets. After all, pedestrians are killed every year by oncoming vehicles, by debris falling, and by crooks coming up from behind to wrap over the head and take everything of value on our person. Why not metal suits then? Not medieval suits of armor, necessarily, but our skin and body parts are always vulnerable to falls and other accidents resulting in sprains, pulled muscles, and fractures. In fact, make it the law that no person ever leaves his or her home without escort in a highly armored, atmosphere-contained vehicle.............
