Part of a response from Robert P. George: If this essay was meant to make people think better of "good ol' Joe," it certainly didn't have that effect on me. My reaction was not, "gee, look at what a great Christian Joe Biden is!" Rather, it was "what a hypocrite!" Give me Bernie Sanders any day of the week. At least the man doesn't pretend to be guided by principles of morality and religious faith he actually rejects. His policy positions on key issues such as abortion are identical to Biden's; but they are not mixed with "the base alloy of hypocrisy."
