A fertilized chicken egg is not a chicken.Originally posted by Johnv:
No one has answered my question. Why do we not refer to a fertilized chicken egg as a chicken? Or an acorn as a tree? Yet we refer to a fertilized human egg as a man. This question isn't even addressing the abortion/contraception topic. It's a simple question.
A fertilized chicken egg is fully Gallus gallus (scientific name for the common domestic chicken) and NOTHING else.
An acorn is not a tree.
An acorn is fully Quercus robur, (scientific name for the common Pedunculate Oak) and NOTHING else.
A fertilized human egg is not a human adult.
A fertilized human egg is fully homo sapien and NOTHING else.
Different names for different stages do not result in a different essence.
