Minneapolis police stop and search a disproportionate rate of Black and East African drivers and their vehicles during routine traffic stops compared with other races.

The city is predominantly white, yet Black and East African drivers accounted for 78% of police searches that started as stops for moving or equipment violations from June 2019 through May 2020, according to Minneapolis police data. Whites made up 12% of searches during the same types of stops in that time frame.

For Black and East African drivers, 26% of searches resulted in arrest, compared with 41% of whites, according to the data.

So what? So they are profiling minority people by searching their vehicles at a 650% higher rate than whites, even though searches of white's vehicles results in 158% more arrests.

Of those stopped - what % are men - if it is more than 60% then that means the police are are sexists!

Sigh, why is that relevant?

Having to explain basic stuff to you again. If the police the dept. is made up of a large number of minorities or "people of color" then we are talking about people of color profiling people of color. That certainly effects how all this is looked at "if" his stats are correct. I guess you didnt consider that in your rush to police bash.

They're profiling by the crime statistics, just as they should.

I guess you just assumed I was meaning to police bash in your rush to bash me. You were incorrect.

I'm assuming that the pulling over of minorities and searching their vehicles at a higher rate than whites is a policy that comes down from upper management. After all, management must be aware of these statistics yet they persist. That's why I said the race of the police force was irrelevant.

How so? Whites get arrested at a much higher rate than minorities after the police search their vehicles. Searching the vehicles of whites results in more arrest success. Therefore, they should be searching the vehicles of white people more than minorities, but they are not.

Black crime rate is astronomical in Minneapolis. They commit a higher percentage of the crime in Minneapolis. than whites, , even though they comprise only 20 % of the population. That's just a fact. No way around it. And police know it.

Whites have something illegal in their vehicles at a much higher rate than minorities. Yet police only search 12% of the vehicles of whites that they pull over, compared to 78% of the minorities vehicles.

Then you are ignorant in your rush to bash police. Cops on the streets make the judgment calls. What they are doing is good policing. The lefty article you posted is just another attempt to lower standards and go easy on law breakers.

I have the best training available on traveling criminal apprehension, aka highway interdiction. I was trained by the DEA, Texas Highway patrol, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol to name just a few.
You make a stop. You observe. You watch for visual indicators. You listen for verbal indicators. You ask questions and carefully process the answers.
The stat does not surprise me in the least. Good interdiction cops know which cars have and dont have drugs before they search.
The problem is well intended doo gooders, such as yourself, who really have no clue what they are talking about.

I’m so glad we don’t have black crime in Hawaii. We’d have to bring out the Samoan sheriffs lol

Reynolds, I have a question
As a LEO - when you have decided to pull someone over esp for just a routine traffic stop (speeding, missing light, ect) how often are you able to tell the race of the driver?

Because blacks turn it into violence and whites don’t. Plain

Really, if we must play these race games, then provide all of the data. How many hours do drivers of each race spend on the road? And break all the stats down by sex, time of day, location, purpose, disposition, reason for stop, etc. And just how many East Africans are there in the area?
