Black GI's denied VA benefits???

I doubt race is a factor in determining VA benefits. I've seen the troubles associated with VA benefits.

To believe the claim it needs to be accompanied by legitimate data (not the racial makeup of claimed submitted and denied but the reasons for the claim, the timeliness, the followup, whether the claim was submitted in service, ect.).

I have a friend who had to fight tooth and nail with the VA. Yes, he is black. But the reason was he hadn't submitted until a few years out of service and had lost his medical records.

I had no problem. But I submitted my claim before I left service, went to the VA while in service, so they had my medical record from their docs.

Black people" probably made paperwork errors at a higher rate than white people.
Why would paperwork errors relate to race? I don't get that part.

The paperwork is, however, pretty crazy. If done in service it's no big deal. But I had to submit some things after service. Ended up paying a law firm 2k to do it for me (price included doctors fees).

Because African Americans until recently received a lower quality education than whites.

How so? Or....perhaps I should ask, what do you mean by recently?

Either way it is not applicable. Filling out forms are not the issue when it comes to the VA. And if there is an error they contact the member.

There was a radcon inspector at work who filed for disability in the early 70's (Vietnam vet). They approved his claim a few years ago. He recoeved over $2 million (they go back to the date the claim was initiated).

There are a lot of good things to say about the VA. But there are problems too.

Ethnic undertones are not appreciated. Let's be careful to deal with fact and not so-called stereotypes

Like any other government benny whether VA, SSI, SSDI, welfare, Medicaid, etc...when frivolous claims are submitted that do not meet the criteria for service connected disability, those claims are denied by regulation and regardless of race.
