Black Lives Matter Rejects Barbecue with Police: ‘I Eat Pigs, I Don’t Eat With Them’

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) extended an invitation to followers of the Black Lives Matter movement to participate in a barbecue to start a constructive dialogue between the two groups. However, the police were met with flat-out rejection by a spokesperson who referred to law enforcement as “pigs.”
“A BBQ is definitely not going to stop this blockade,” Karissa Lewis, a self-described “radical black farmer from East Oakland,” told local Fox affiliate KTVU. “And as a radical-black farmer from East Oakland, I eat pigs, I don’t eat with them,” she said.

Pigs? I wonder how BLM would like being referred to as chimps. Oh, what huge double standards we have in society.

Bangor (Maine) is about as far as one can get from Oakland and stay in the US, and the protest by BLM supporters in front of the police station was a lot different as well - peaceful and amicable. As the day was very warm, police brought out bottled water, which was gratefully accepted.

We need to be wary of folks who do idiotic things, but cannot allow those people to define a whole population.

You deserve to be in the same class as Sean Hannity and Al Sharpton.

And considering the OPs reasons for posting this, shouldn't the entire thread be considered provocative language?

Even though Zaac isn't here--the problem with this post is an assumption about the motives behind creating the thread. As if Zaac actually knew the heart of this person, and why they were posting it--which is a complete mis-direction from what was actually posted....

Not really. You're also assuming facts not in evidence.

I edited the post, but in any case, the reaction would have been the same, no matter the source. The problem was it shined a light on the real attitude of black lies matter.

I agree. The story didn't fit his narrative.

I don't think the Fox connection had anything to do with it. Why, do you suppose, was this little tidbit offered? Purely as an information item? Not likely, especially given it's headline: Black Lives Matter Rejects barbecue with police. Does that not indicate that the entire Black Lives Matter movement is being represented by the speaker? Does she indeed speak for everyone in Oakland, much less for everyone in America? I don't recall that the poster bothered to publicize BLM statements decrying the murder of Dallas police officers. Because that wouldn't fit HIS narrative.

The brouhaha (and the Internet citations always go back to this one report) is an attempt to marginalize the concerns of minority communities that, for whatever reason, believe themselves special targets of police violence.

I guess it's true that only white lies matter.

The woman in the video does not represent all of Oakland, or all African Americans. But her comments are typical of BLM protestors nationwide:

LINK
"Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon".

LINK
"What do we want?" "dead cops"…"When do we want em?" " Now"

LINK
"Deck The Halls With Rows Of Dead Cops"

LINK
"The Only good pig is a pig that’s dead"
