The activist group Black Lives Matter went even farther in shifting blame from radical Islam to America’s supposed intolerance of diversity, blaming “white-supremacy, patriarchy, and homophobia” for the Pulse attack.

“Despite the media’s framing of this as a terrorist attack, we are very clear that this terror is completely homegrown, born from the anti-Black white supremacy, patriarchy and homophobia of the conservative right and of those who would use religious extremism as a weapon to gain power for the few and take power from the rest,” the group said in a press release after the shooting.

“Those who seek to profit from our deaths hope we will forget who our real enemy is, and blame Muslim communities instead. But we will never forget.”

“Homegrown terror is the product of a long history of colonialism, including state and vigilante violence. It is the product of white supremacy and capitalism, which deforms the spirit and fuels interpersonal violence...

The enemy is now and has always been the four threats of white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, and militarism. These forces and not Islam create terrorism. These forces, and not queerness, create homophobia.”

These folks don't seem to understand the enemy. Under the right circumstances, they'd be targets of Islamic terrorism.

And what circumstances might those be?

I agree with the majority of what's in the article. I disagree with what has spawned terrorism. That last statement should have said domestic terrorism.

Look at what Boko Haram is doing to in Nigeria and the surrounding region. Then, there is the Sudanese situation. I would hazard many of the BLM supporters attend Christian churches.

Couldn't the same thing be said about domestic terrorism? Under the "right" circumstances, they could be the targets of terrorism from any terrorist.

And based upon the comments from the radical right that have been used to stir up a certain population against the group, I'd venture that the "right circumstance" is far more likely in the US from a white, angry , radicalized right wing terrorist than it would be from a member of Boko Haram.

I think BLM understands what a lot of white people in this country refuse to understand. White people...white men(not all) specifically are angry. They are angry that their power structure is being challenged. They are angry that they are starting to feel what many minorities got to feel for 400+ years of being in this land.

It's an anger borne out of fear and stirred up CONSTANTLY by the white Al Sharptons (Sean, Bill, Rush,Mark).

Again it won't be acknowledged by most white people. But BLM doesn't need it to be. It doesn't lessen the truthfulness of their statement.

Me, for one, when they chant "pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon."

Well if you're one of those who applauded the death of black people killed by police, you might need to be their enemy.
And you are my enemy for licking their [...] as they do so.

You do present yourself like one of those classless , murdering police officers.

Zaac, again you are saying "Carthage must be destroyed." Sorry, I forget the original Latin.

Ceterum Censeo. Those four years of Latin weren't wasted.

But I personally think that major parts of the policing and adjudicating systems are broken and are systemically racist and racially prejudices. Perhaps they do need to be gotten rid of and restarted because as they stand, they don't need to stand.

Au contraire ye who fits the profile of one of those dastardly police officers. Why I'm as sweet as honey and as polite as a a butterfly sucking the dew off the wispy bloom of a Magnolia on a Southern Spring mornin'.

How dare you sully my good name with your buffoonery sir!
