Bob Jones University Ranked by U.S. News and World Report

SNIP I’m pleased U.S. News and World Report recognized Bob Jones University once again as one of the top regional universities in the South—and as the fourth in our region for offering best value,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “We have significant momentum in our rankings rising this year from 61st to 34th in top regional universities and from seventh to fourth in best value regional university.” SNIP

I believe the lack of comments is due to the SBC centricity of the Board's membership.
I have never been able to get excited about BJU. I live close enough to them to have had "interesting" encounters with some of their students. Ultra legalistic.

I can well understand that the school is not everyone's cup of tea. Though, I do think the current crop of students and faculty has changed from what they were a few years back.

I hope they have. They have a huge pile of negative rep to overcome.

Could you please define what exactly you found legalistic about the students you meant.
Can you give me some examples of what you considerr to be legalistic?

You would just have to be around them. Its kind of like a cross between the Mormon missionaries and the Westboro protesters. I hope they are changing and I don't want to bad mouth them.

Am I to understand that you saying they are utlra-legalistic is not bad mouthing them? But then when I ask you to give me some specific examples all of a sudden now you don't want to bad mouth them? I am asking you to give evidence of your claim that they are "ultra legalistic". If you truly did not wish to bad mouth them then you shouldn't have made the claim that they are legalistic in the first place, and if you are willing to point out that they are legalistic you should also be willing to give examples of this so that other's do not err.

They are legalistic. Google will tell you more than you ever wished to know.

Reynolds, what you saw was the outworking of cultural fundamentalism. Added to that, for years beyond when it was legally required, the school operated in loco parentis. It also drank from the Citadel's fountain of leadership education.

My brother and sister-in-law - both graduated BJU -
Here are two examples.
1) After Christmas, I drove from up North to Atlanta. To help pay my gas, ect - I had a passenger -
A female -who attended BJU. We stopped at my brothers house. He recommend that his wife take
my female passenger back to campus.

2) While at my brothers house - I noticed that my SIL had a lot of dresses - using both sides of the closet.
Her explanation was that one side was her street dresses - and the other side was her BJU campus dresses!
