    End The U.N.

    By: Herbert London

    Excerpt

It should be recalled that the U.N. is a home for tyrants. Despite lip service about peace and stability, the U.N. serves as 2a hospitable sanctuary for some of the bloodiest regimes the world has ever known. It is amusing and ironic that American school children visit this gigantic edifice on First Avenue and are told this is an institution promoting peace. The truth is very different. Some states are eager to promote the internal welfare of their citizens and international cooperation; others, exploit their people, even imprison and kill their people but are accorded the same degree of respect in the U.N. as their benign global neighbors.

As I see it, the time has come to end this madness, to excoriate the hypocrisy. A U.N. may be needed, but not the one presently in place.

    SNIP

What the U.N.reveals is a gang of tyrannical knaves, oblivious to serious atrocities, corrupt beyond even "normal" Third World standards and so biased it violates its own laws in order to punish designated enemies, i.e. the U.S. and Israel. That American taxpayers underwrite this organization is quite simply a hoax.

It is time to close the doors at the U.N. and open the possibility for a union of truly democratic nations. We owe that to the people around the globe who care about liberty and can recognize how bankrupt the U.N. has become.

Your statements reflect the mistaken assumption that Bolton/Bush should want to send the UN the message that we want to promote and get a long with an anti-american, corrupt organization whose most effective programs serve to promote a an anti-christian humanist agenda.

Bush/Bolton are sending a better message more in line with christian and US interests.

UN why do you exist when you are so corrupt and ineffective?

UN why should the US pay most of the bills of an anti-american organization when we receive such little benefit, except as an occassional forgein policy tool as Bolton pointed out?

UN your worldwide mission to spread a humanist agenda for the promotion of gay rights, murder through abortion and the suppression of religious freedom does not reflect our values.

UN do not take continued US financial support for granted or we will remove it.

Thank you Mr Bolton and Mr Bush for sending this message to the UN we support you, in fact we would ask you to immediately reduce our UN funding by 99% until such time they prove to be an organization we can trust that is not promotong such a radical humanist and anti-american agenda.

Mioque the basic idea of having a organization of Nations is a good one, what the UN has become does not reflect christian values and it should change or cease to exist. If we can effect this change by withdrawing our financial support we will do it.

They probably exist for the same reason YOURS and MY corrupt government exist. We live in a sinful and corrupt world.

His job is to talk other countries into doing what is best for the USA, not to insult them.

    About Herbert London's article.

"others, exploit their people, even imprison and kill their people but are accorded the same degree of respect in the U.N. as their benign global neighbors. "
    "
That has been the problem with the UN since the day the founders decided to include the USSR.

Yes, but the Soviets had only one vote and a veto.

Now the majority of the members of the U.N. fit Herbert London's description.

And a host of satelite states giving them a large amount of extra votes. That's why the general assembly was made relatively unimportant in the UN grand scheme of things.

When the UN was conceived there were a lot fewer countries, most of the current crop of unpleasant dictatorships were colonies of various European powers back then.

I don't think that the U.N. is as good of an organization as it was when it was formed in 1945. But it is still good that there is a place for the nations of the world to gather together and talk. Unfortunately, as it has expanded ove the years it has become less efficient and more bureaucratic, just as our own federal government has.

The UN is in dire need of some serious reform.

    Good anti-corruption safeguards.
Standards of behaviour for countries that want to be part of committees.
Reducing& rearanging the vetoes in the securitycouncil.
    Stuff like that.

Ship the UN to somewhere in Europe, perhaps Holland since they appear to be the most decadent country over there.
