Book of Hebrews?

How do you know that Apollos, for example, didn't go around calling the Jews "Hebrews" all the time? He might have picked it up from Paul!

 

There are present tense verbs in this passage.

Hebrews 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

Not Paul because the Greek syntax is dramatically different from Paul's. Paul calling himself a "Hebrew" is an absolutely moot point--the title of the book is not part of the actual letter and was a later addition. Why would this need to be written by Paul? I never have understood why all books must have apostolic authorship--the central issue in canonization is usage not authorship.

The writing takes place during persecution--the major issue is apostacy. Any time of persecution would be a good guess. As for the author, many of the supported possibilities are just that possible--unless we have something to compare with (as in the case of Paul) we can't really know.

True in a kind of "mighta coulda" fashion. But we actually "have the text" for Paul -- not for Apollos. Evidence from what we have - then allows us to conclude for Paul.

It is instructive that Paul's focus on minding depth of doctrinal understanding gained in 4000 years of Gospel history to that point in time (i.e. the OT scripture) - is conducted in a very scholary fashion in the book of Hebrews - assuming a Hebrew audience and leaving some of the "milk" concepts (Heb 5) that he reserved for the new initiates - the Gentiles.

Clearly - this doctrinal masterpiece of Hebrews easily fits hand in glove with some of the deeper sections of his letter to the Romans.

Clearly there was only one person with such a depth of history in Hebrew doctrine and scholarship writing in the NT -- Paul.
