John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. What do you think the Lord means born of water? Baptism, Natural birth,Holy Spirit or scripture?

Born of the word? Now you have my attention...can you explain?I disagree with that but respect it. I think as you said the "The best commentary on the bible is the bible". Ezekiel 36:25–27 I believe it means the word.

The best commentary on the bible is the bible. Just keep reading.
"Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
"Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

Born of water = born of the flesh.
Born of the Spirit = born spiritually.
Two births. One physical. One Spiritual.
Isn't Jesus the Word..John 1:1?1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the WORD of God, which lives and stays for ever. Ephesians 1:13 In whom you also trusted, after you heard the WORD of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 5:26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the WORD. "emphasis mine"
No I believe in a singular spiritual birth. What does the Holy Spirit use to convert a soul?Isn't Jesus the Word..John 1:1?
So you believe in two births..the Word and the Spirit?
Here's the link to the entire article:"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5).
The word "washing" (Greek, loutron) is used only twice in the New Testament. There is the "washing of regeneration," as in our text, and the washing in the Scriptures: "Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word" (Ephesians 5:25-26).
Since both the Word and Spirit of God are also said to be the effective agents in accomplishing the miracle of regeneration (see I Peter 1:23—"being born again . . . by the word of God," and John 3:7-8—"Ye must be born again. . . . born of the Spirit"), it is clear that the washing of regeneration is synonymous, symbolically, with the "renewing of the Holy Ghost" and also with the "washing of water by the word."

In verse five Christ gives the qualifications of being born again and if water is flesh then wouldn't being born naturally be a qualification ? If water means flesh then that would be what Nicodemus being a Jew would want to hear wouldn't it ? But in verse five if Christ was pointing out to Nicodemus that to be born again you would have to be born of the word and the Spirit it would not take anything away from verse six where he denounced the natural birth. The best commentary on the bible is the bible.
