The issue is root of all evil Greek : pantov ton kakon - all (plural) the (plural) evils - all and evil are plural.
πάντων τῶν κακῶν
panton - all, every (plural word)
ton - definite article (plural)
kakon - evils (plural)
literally - root for all (plural) the (plural) evils (plural) is the money(silver)-love.
Young's Literal Translation:
1 Timothy 6:10 for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;

Then a question came up concerning the scripture verse in question - it has two viable translations.
True if the verse in question requires more research then another forum/post would be in order.
However we still are not sure whether Trump is motivated by "the root of all evil" or "the root of several evils" or something else.
