Hey, CTB - you know what the problem with that cartoon is?
Isn't it even remotely possible that those congressmen/women were actually representing the will of the people in the districts/states they actually represent?
Roughly nine in 10 Americans (91%) say they would vote for a law requiring criminal background checks for all U.S. gun purchasers.
http://pollingmatters.gallup.com/2013/04/senate-defeats-background-check-measure.html
And if it is possible, even remotely, then shouldn't we be congratulating congress for actually working for the people who elected them, rather than publishing a political cartoon that vilifies them for the cartoonist's personal political views?
Probably not as quite a majority, 91%, of Americans are in favor of background checks. The politicians are more interested in money for their campaigns than in the will of the people.
Same answer as above ... large majority are in favor of background checks.
That "large majority" consists of "a random sample of 1,013 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia." So they asked roughly 20 people in each of the 51 "states".
That's not a majority by any means.
And if you will bother to read that entire polling page, the support is not nearly as unanimous as the headline writers would like people to think.

Political scientist Brian Schaffner did an analysis (posted on themonkeycage.org) of support in each state for stricter gun control laws and the votes of the two senators from each state on the assault weapons ban bill that was also voted on Wednesday. The results show a very high relationship in general between the two variables. In other words, using a measure of public opinion on gun control at the state level and a vote by the state’s senators on a gun control bill, Schaffner shows that there is a strong correlation. The senators in this instance were in fact generally representing their constituencies.
I have heard about new math, but making 90% a minority is really stretching it.
It certainly is not a minority that support registration.
Getting late here. Good night.

You nay-syers are showing continuing signs of the Mitt-GOP election disease. The facts do not agree with my opinion, thus the facts are wrong.
I posted a section from the article YOU provided a link to that states the senators actually did vote the will if the people. Apparently the facts don't agree with your opinion, either.
Give up your liberty. Give up your guns. Worship the state. The police are your new protecting angels.
Crabby, Hitler would be proud of you.
Poncho, we are talking about the Senate voting down background checks, not about taking your guns away.
How do you feel about background checks?
