Brave new world

I was starting to think you were delving into Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. That book prefigured Orwell's 1984.
By the way, on November 22, 1963 JFK was killed, but also on that date C.S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley died.

I’m hoping the Astros win. I have no dog in the race, but hoping Dusty Baker get his first WS win as a manager.

Astros? Those cheaters! ;)
Baker managed the Giants, Cubs, Reds, Nationals, and Astros to the playoffs. I loved when my Reds hired him and hated when they fired him for a slug disguised as Bryan Price. The Reds made the playoffs three times(I think it was three) under Baker, but noooooo, the Reds are apparently allergic to that, so they got rid of him.

I hope he wins his first WS as a manager.

You were first a Colt .45 fan. :p

True. I wish they had kept the name. I went to my first game in 1965 when the Astrodome opened and they lost to the Cubs. I went to my second game in 1968 and they lost to the Giants. I went to a doubleheader in 1969 and watched them sweep the Braves and got to see the giant scoreboard go off several times. Went to a bunch of games over the years after that. My only trip to Minute Maid Park was in 2014 and they lost to the Marlins.

@SovereignGrace and @KenH ,

I don't mean this as an insult or to be insensitive to your baseballologistic understanding.

You can continue to cheer for the losing team if you must, but you should really consider supporting the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves are God's team, after all.

Speaking of cheating(which is endemic to baseball), interesting story about how even the famous("The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!") 1951 New York Giants cheated - Focus on the Giants’ Cheating Scandal of 1951 – Society for American Baseball Research (sabr.org)

I was devastated in early 2020 when the news about the Astros came out. Took me until mid-August of this year to start listening and watching major league baseball again. It helped to learn about all of the other cheating for so long in MLB and during this season we learned about how rampant cheating was among pitchers with the sticky stuff. The final assist to my return to MLB fandom was Joey Votto's comments:

' When asked whether baseball fans should stop booing the Astros for their sign-stealing in 2017, Votto provided a fairly blunt answer:

"Yeah, yeah, there's no question about it," Votto said. "The idea that they (the Astros) were the only one doing something wrong just baffles me." ' - Joey Votto talks Astros cheating scandal, says Houston was not the 'only one doing something wrong' | Sporting News

A sign over the Raiders door per Matt Millen…

Raider rule No. 1: Cheating is encouraged.
Raider rule No. 2: See rule No. 1.

Most teams have cheated. That’s why a catcher changes his signs when a guy is on second base. This was YEARS before the Astros scandal. I’d said most, if not all, teams cheat. Some just get caught.

I actually did like the Braves quite a bit back in the 1980s to early 90s when I was able to watch a lot of their games on Superstation WTBS on my cable TV. Enjoyed watching players such as Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, etc.
