A majority of U.S. Senators voted to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court on Monday evening with Democrats refusing to engage in bipartisanship.

Barrett was confirmed on a 52-48 vote with only Republicans voting to confirm her. One Republican, Susan Collins (ME), voted against Barrett which comes as she is in the middle of a tough re-election campaign and her “no” vote would ultimately not alter the outcome.

Hopefully Roe will finally be overturned. We are one step closer to criminalizing the murder of unwanted children.

Don’t be disappointed if the matter is not returned totally to the states. My guess is that the SCOTUS will simply continue with allowing the states that want to to place limits on abortion, such as the twenty week limit. Justices can’t change the culture or human hearts, only the gospel of Jesus Christ can do that.

The godless left is busy today claiming Mr. Trump's handling of the "pandemic" makes him responsible for the 250K+ deaths in the United States. But how about his handling of the American Genocide, with about 59 million since Roe V. Wade. At the current (2015) rate, more than 600,000 are murdered each year. We do not know the future but just maybe, SCOTUS might curtail the slaughter, and save 100's of thousands of lives. What if, and it is a big if, we could bring the wholesale slaughter number below the Covid annual rate before the vaccine. May God bless Mr. Trump.

The question the Supreme Court will eventually have to answer is "When does life begin?" In other words they must sooner than later determine if a person in the womb is a - human. The Bible says that a person is a person when knitted in their mom's womb. Science, if it contributes anything to the ultimate question, at least provides us the answer at which point the child in the womb reaches certain developmental way points. These points start with point of viability which is currently around 20 or 21 weeks and with the rate of innovation in medicine it will only get lower and lower. Today it may be 21 weeks but in ten years, who knows, it might be 8 or 9 weeks. Then there is the date of when the child experiences pain and emotions. And the point of heartbeat.

What standard should the United States use to determine that a child is a human and thus protected by the rights of the constitution? I know the standard I believe they should use, the one that benefits the child the most, at the point of conception, but at the very least, using Science instead of the Standard of the Bible, the minimum should be at the very least the point of viability based on the science at the time of the birth. Now that would be 19 or 20 weeks and in the future even sooner.

sadly, Steven, though this would indeed be truly great news, yet, because of the sin in the hearts of people, this will only drive them to the illegal trade, and put lives in danger. I am 1000% against all abortions.

It can't be returned to the States. The only legal grounds for overturning is "personhood." If personhood is established, then immediate 14th Amendment protections fall to the person.

By that logic, since burglary laws don't stop all burglary, legalize it.

Yes, it can and is the best that can be hoped for. We’ll have to agree to disagree about this in our opinions.
How can it be overturned without 14th Amendment issue? You read the orig decision?
As my old pastor used to say, "We can agree you are wrong."

A good friend of mine who is a Christian and pro-life will say this:
The only possible exception would be an ectopic pregnancy where the fertilized egg implants in an area other than the uterus - typically the Fallopian tube. The Fallopian tube is very narrow and the growing baby will soon rupture the tube which is very dangerous to the mother. The doctors need to go in surgically to remove the baby and the tube to save the mother from bleeding to death. Very rarely the baby implants in an area where it is able to fully develop and the mom needs to have surgery to birth the child because it is not in the uterus. But this is super rare. In most cases the baby will not survive and the mother has a good chance of dying as well.

I believe life begins at conception, within a few hours after fertilization. Once the unique DNA has formed, a unique from the father and mother human life is present. This is consistent with science and with the Bible. So taking that life is a homicide.
To save the life of the mother would be an example of biblically supported justifiable homicide, as the bible authorizes lethal force to protect others. At the other end of the spectrum, we have folks slaughtering babies (disproportionately black) to keep the global population down.
