Considering how badly you wanted this shutdown, I would imagine even you are thrilled with the current progress. Can you imagine if Hillary won?

There you go again. Question begging. Ascribing motivations to me that I never entertained.

I did not want the lockdown. I am NOT thrilled with the current progress.

Your so-called debate tactics are tiresome. Just stop it.

I didn't ascribe any motives at all.

And yes, you wanted the lockdown, stop it. I listened to you for months. Many wanted it. Even Trump wanted it for a time. Even I thought it was okay for a short time.

You're being defensive and silly. I just suggested that even you, much more enthusiastic than me regarding the shutdown, are likely very pleased about the progress. Am I wrong?

This is fantastic news. Better than expected news. Also, keep in mind that 17% of the jobs gained were temporary government jobs related to the taking the 2020 census.

Let's see if we can string a couple months like this together.

Presidents, like quarterbacks, have always gotten way too much blame when things do poorly economically and way too much credit when things do well economically. The president of the United States is not God. There is only one God, and the president of the United States, or the head of any country, is not God. If you don't believe me, ask Nebuchadnezzar.

Presidents, like quarterbacks.....

Presidents matter, probably even more than quarterbacks. The economy thrived because Trump undid everything Obama did, from high taxes to regulations. His whole focus and leadership did wonders. Tariffs worked. He deserves credit.

We're almost halfway back to where we were in February. But, the monthly job gains are slowing. Unless we can pick up the pace, say 2M new jobs per month, we could be looking at the employment picture not restoring to February levels until September 2021. If Biden is elected probably September 2023.

Been seeing this take a lot today. It’s flawed. It’s like falling behind 0-21 in a football game, quickly cutting the deficit to 14-21, and the analysts saying “They’re still behind.” Discuss it with the Houston Texans.

Flawed? What, the monthly job gains aren't slowing? Look at the numbers.

It’s like falling behind 0-21 in a football game, quickly cutting the deficit to 14-21, and the analysts saying “They’re still behind.” Discuss it with the Houston Texans.

Your analogy would be more accurate if the team fell behind 0-21 in the first quarter, then came back 7-21 in the 2nd quarter and the score was 10-21 at the half. Then it was 13-21 at the end of the third quarter. That's roughly the pace of this employment comeback.

Please note the unemployment rate is almost always the last indicator to recover in an economic recovery

Christian message board. Frowning over positive economic numbers, especially considering where the economy was about three months. Counting blessings. I'm sure you can put it all together. :)

Yes, I understand what you are pointing out. However, this thread is about the economy "roaring back" and so far, since the OP, the number of new jobs created is on a downward trajectory.

Ironically, during the Obama administration when I would post positive economic news it was greeted with jeers. "He's cooking the books". "Those numbers aren't real". "The unemployment rate isn't the number we should be looking at, it's the labor participation rate." On and on it went. (And I was one of the biggest critics of Obama's glacially paced "recovery".)

Now that Trump is President and we have an economic recession with job gains numbers decreasing every month, I'm booed when I point this out.

Ironically

Everyone who follows politics to a sufficient degree knows that whatever Democrats say when Republicans control the executive branch and whatever Republicans say when Democrats control the executive branch, that they will both say the opposite when the other major party controls the executive branch.

It is sad that Christians join the world in such rank hypocrisy, but we are corrupted human beings in all areas of our thoughts, words, and actions, and it is much easier to follow the world than it is to follow Christ.

I don't believe this is true, apart from isolated examples. It's a moral equivalence argument, and straw man.

The real story is Christians compromising on their morality with politics.
