On Friday, the Russian Ambassador to the United States responded to the strikes by the U.S., U.K, France, and Israel in Syria by saying that Russia warned there would be consequences if such strikes occurred.

"The worst apprehensions have come true," Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said in a statement. "Our warnings have been left unheard."

"A pre-designed scenario is being implemented," Antonov continued. "Again we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences."

They can't be dumb enough to start a shooting war with three nuclear powers. I bet though, that the situation on the ground may turn grave for those 2000 U.S. soldiers in Syria due to the Syrian military and Russian mercenaries.

It's not a matter of being dumb but losing face.

Face must be protected at any cost even annihilation.

Who wins? usually the one who does the most damage but its a guessing game as to the one with the most horrible WMDs and the ability to deliver first and fastest..

IMO its between America and Russia primarily.

Stanley Kubrick was prophetic.
At the end of his movie Dr. Strangelove (1964) was the filming of a hydrogen bomb detonation with the song We'll Meet Again i.e America and Russia (Kennedy and Khrushchev).

Best Case: Presidents Trump and Putin meet in a super summit dialogue and successfully come to a peaceful agreement (and cancel out the inevitable).
Worst Case : Don't want to go there.

Another path: Putin and allies lick their wounds (Big talk no action) and back off for now. IOW postpone the inevitable.
This is probably the path that will be taken.

Pray. ... The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
