We are getting way off OP!!
Lets get back to it:
"President Donald Trump released a video pleading with his supporters to leave the U.S. Capitol peacefully and return to their homes. Trump supporters protesting the election results had breached the Capitol and clashed with police on Wednesday, prompting lockdowns, evacuations, and riot response measures."

The problem is in that same video he does not recognize he has been given false information from whoever is giving him information. And it was a bit too late.

His biggest problem was not anticipating how his words would be received in a political context. That is something I like about Trump (he is not a politician) but it also had its drawbacks.

His words were timely, appropriate, and the violence cannot be legitimately tied to him.

I stand corrected

(even though I am sitting down)
No, you do not stand corrected.

This was not a businessman holding a pep rally for his employees. This was a President saying some facts and some propaganda, telling then the country is being destroyed and they have to stop the election from being stolen from him, and to March peacefully to the Capital.

He is directly responsible for the escalation. A good leader would have foreseen the potential for violence and toned down the rhetoric. It was a poor decision on Trump's part.

He does not deserve all of the blame, perhaps not even most of it. But he is the President, he was the speaker, and the responsibility does fall to him.
