So if you counted on me as a source of intelligence, and I kept telling you that the guy sitting across from you was planning to pour sour milk down your shirt, and using my information you convinced the guy sitting beside you to attack the guy across from you, only to find out he never had sour milk in the first place, would you be guilty of lying?
All you did was share information that you thought was accurate because you trusted me. If that makes you a liar, then you have a very weak definition of lying.
