Bush and his flip flops on Osama Bin Laden

He needs to capture or execute Osama Bin Laden now to save his presidential legacy ...his lashing out at other Americans and trying to stir up division has been nakedly seen through...sad.

But you wonder what level of incompetence he has
reached with these flip flops.

Bush quotes on Osama Bin Forgotten (a study in contrasts):
"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." — 9/13/01

"I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'" —9/17/01

"...Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he's maybe in control of a cave. He's on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we're going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that's what's happening. He's on the run, if he's running at all. So we don't know whether he's in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open -- we just don't know...."—Crawford TX, 12/28/01

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."—3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."—3/13/02

"I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."—3/13/02

"Uhh—Gosh, I —don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those, uhh, exaggerations." — Tempe, AZ, 10/13/2004

==From a realistic point of view I don't think Bin Laden is that important anymore. Sure capturing him would be a big media circus and a big hit for the US but it would not solve any problems. This is now much bigger than Bin Laden (thanks to Iraq). So I see this as an evolution of policy based on the reality of our situation and not a flip flop. This is why we need to back away from political activism. It blinds us to the larger realities (ie...political activism causes people not to be able to see the forest for the trees).

What happened to Bin Ladin:

2001 was spent in American hospitals,
Till his death in mid-December

# Israeli Intelligence: he died and all new videos are faked
# He had Kidney operation July 4 in Dubai, reports "La Figaro"
# CNN reported 2/1/02 bin Laden aged enormously
# Pakistan President Musharraf says he died of Kidney Failure
# Doctor says he is extremely ill requiring dialysis

SOMEBODY IS TRYING TO CONVINCE US THAT HE IS STILL ALIVE

# October Surprise 2004: From left handed to right handed? The new tape is fake!
# November 2002: Lab confirms voice tapes are fake
# September 2002: More bin Laden videos, but voice only?
# March 2002: bin Laden sends an email from his AOL?
# May 2002: Old bin Laden tapes, sent as new tapes
# June 2002: Promises of new tapes, which the U.S. media may "choose" not to air.

Apparently Bin Laden's heir (Al Zarqawi) has his own hub of websites that the intelligence gurus and media can check to see if he claims responsibility just minutes after a bomb goes off somewhere.

Strange they can catch all these people with child porn on their PC's and college kids hacking into the dean's computer and downloading music and such but haven't got a clue as to how to grab Goldstein's webmasters.

Except for the fact that the 'course' never has been just one man, else we wouldnt have a good number of people just like him in Gitmo at this very moment.

Im all for getting Bin Laden. But to suggest it be done now rather than 3 years ago makes one believe people like A-pal really think this is all just sheer dramatic entertainment, fed to the evening news for your viewing pleasure.

Hi ECA,
I don't think we should have ever given up on Bin Laden either. The President shouldn't have mis-spoke about Bin Laden not being a priority though.

Let us consider first these statements made by Bush on al Qaeda and Iraq –

"Iraq has trained Al Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases." - Bush in October 2002.

"Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of al Qaeda." – Bush, January 2003 State of the Union address.

"Iraq has also provided Al Qaeda with chemical and biological weapons training." - Bush in February 2003.

"The reason I keep insisting that there was a relationship between Iraq and Saddam and Al Qaeda, because there was a relationship between Iraq and Al Qaeda." – Bush, June 17, 2004.

These statements are in direct opposition to the 9-11 Commission’s findings, as the report stated:

"We have no credible evidence that Iraq and Al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States," it said. And there appears to have been no “collaborative relationship" between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.”

The fact is that the evidence shows that there never has been a relationship between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein, that they were closer to being in opposition to one another, and, further, that Saddam Hussein had nothing whatsoever to do with 9-11.

More of Bush quotes:

"I'm the commander - see, I don't need to explain - I don't need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the President. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation." - Bush, Washington Post, November 19, 2002

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier."
George Bush Describing what it's like to be governor of Texas.

(Governing Magazine 7/98)

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it.

George W. Bush 12/18/2000

hmmm chasing down a fruitcake psychotic murderer in the harsh regions of Afghanistan or taking out the bulk of the Al Queda membership in Iraq....

Choices, choices, priorities, priorities.

He cant hide forever. And the war in Iraq cant go on forever.

Is it me or do people seem to hang on every word of the President?

Mark this date down in History. So far Osama has been doing a pretty good job of hiding forever.George Bush did promise "Shock and Awe' when he started his invasion and so far it has been the American public that has been in "shock and awe" and with no indications of a pullout anytime soon. And so far the war in Iraq has been going on forever which might not have happened if George would not have surrounded himself with a bunch of nambie pambie yes men.

Except there had been very, very little al Queda membership in Iraq back before we opened its borders - most of what there was, was in the Kurdish region allied with the Kurds against the Iraqi government.

Choices, choices, priorities, priorities.
Yeah, get the folk who attacked us or go for the toothless tiger and win oil fields, a MidEast base and avenge Daddy.

He cant hide forever.
Why not?

And the war in Iraq cant go on forever.
How long then?

Is it me or do people seem to hang on every word of the President?
It's you. We are able to call up his past quotes easily thanks to modern technology.

I would have to agree that capturing the man that put together the largest act of mass murder in the US is still a pretty high priority. Certainly moreso than invading a country on shaky intelligence and evidence from questionable informants.

One of these days the liberals are gonna get what they have always wanted, and I hope and pray that before that happens all my loved ones and me are dead and gone; or the rapture has ocurred!

I DO NOT want any of us to be around when this country is fed to the wolves as a result of the liberal control freaks cedeing U.S. sovereignty to the UN, or China, or France, or whoever.

It WILL happen, if and when the libs get control!!!!

And what's more the pity is that most (all?) of the lib posters on this board will no longer be needed, and they will just be as cattle to be slaughtered at the pleasure of the elites! So much for their UTOPIAN dream!
