It was with great interest that re-read Geo. Orwells "1984" and noticed the following; The three super powers Oceania,Eastasia and Eurasia were at constant war with no intention of winning but the purpose was to unite the people in fear to prevent hatred of Big Brother. The people didn't know who they were going to fight next. IN THE END WINSTON LOVED BIG BROTHER.

I believe that 1984 is being re-enacted today. What's better than a nebulous "War on Terror" which has no defined ending to pre-occupy Americans citizens? It's even better than orwell could come up with.

Amazing - I was just thinking about 1984 this morning in relation to 2006.

How long before wire-tapping becomes Big Brother's screen and camera?

We are now living in a Brave New World.

The author of this book did a speech in 1962 (The Ultimate Revolution) in which he said the elite would use terrorism to bring in their one world government. The idea being of course to scare the earth's population into excepting the tyranny of global government (run mostly by banks and corporations). Seems he was right from what I've been seeing and hearing since 9/11.

I have begun reading 1984 again. In there the masses were forced for comform to the will of Big Brother. Only a few followed him with blind, unquestioning loyalty. It is that few who follow with blind loyalty that cause me concern.

The idea of forced compliance to big brother is imo somewhere in the very near future although we have had small glimpses of it (New Orleans) and is being implimented currently in police state measures such as the Patriot Act(s). At the moment it would seem the manipluation of events, information and of course fear is all that is needed to keep the "barbarians" (to use a term from Brzezinski) from coming together and refusing the globalists their aim of world domination. Note, by globalists I mean the elite power structure of unelected bureaucrats, the media, international bankers and corporations. Not a political party although both major political parties will follow and impliment the schemes of the globalists with vigor and towering pseudo patriotic rhetoric.

Those that follow with blind faith are deluded and have already given up their national sovereignty and rights as citizens to their country. IM ever HO.

Haven't been to New York lately. Are the twin towers still standing? Since the War on Terror is nebulous obviously 9/11 is a creation of the mass media.

Lets see, the president of Iran doesn't believe the Nazi Holocaust existed. The democrat party doesn't believe that the American holocaust is 7-fold worse. Nebulous[ity] must be a growing phenomenon.

1984 was sort of a big deal when Reagon was in office,it kind of got overplayed back then but little did we know that 20 years later it would be on its way into becoming a reality.

As Jefferson observed, freedom is most often lost a little at a time.

Clinton, too, was weak on civil liberties, but Bush is actively trying to take them down, for no other reason than they keep him from ruling as he pleases.

Nope the right to be stupid will never be taken away the globalists in our government and media will make sure that is the one right you will always have. They depend on it for their very existence.

Right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure. He has admittedly bypassed the Constitutional controls on wiretaps, because he believed the special court set up to monitor them, would not approve some of them.

Right to habeus corpus. He claims he can seize an American citizen and hold him secretly without charges, if he decides that person is an "enemy combatant." No appeal, no due process.

These are not theoretical violations; he has tried both.
