Under "unreasonable search and seizure." The courts have been very firm on this.

    And yes, the president can gather foreign intelligence. Not domestic spying, as Bush now admits he did. That is a violation of the law.

    I gather, since you didn't bother to deny it, that you realize Bush claims he can take away your Constitutional right to due process by simply declaring you an enemy.
    </font>
Your above statement is untrue. The NSA listened to conversations between foreign terrorists and people in this country. You Bush Haters are will have to find something else to beat Bush over the head with.
    </font>
Under the Patriot Act the government can:

    1. Break into your house without a search warrant,

    2. Arrest you without due cause just by saying they think you have "links to terrorism,"

    3. Throw you into jail without a phone call or recourse to a lawyer,

    4. Keep you in jail without charging you with anything.

    5. Keep you there for as long as they want.

    Understand that I'm talking about doing these things to American citizens in the U.S. The first thing actually happened to a Christian friend of mine. Ultimately, the FBI admitted that they were wrong but refused to pay for the damage to his home and told him he couldn't tell anyone about what had happened. He did tell me but wouldn't go forward to our Congressman or Senators whom I had contacted. (I wonder why. Big Brother has a lot of muscle.)

    I guess, from past experience, that I'm asking a lot, but do you have any names of people who've had any of the above stuff actually happen to them ?

    Okay, let's get down and dirty and get the real red flags going up. Dare I? Let's talk about the IRS and how they bully people around, even taking the toothbrush from an old Amish man in Pennsylvania (years ago, but happened nonetheless). Anybody here ever gone through an audit? Let me tell you, plenty of people have suffered at the hands of the IRS long before any Patriot Act. (At least Bush has put a kindler, gentler face on the IRS.)

    Now, I'm putting on my foil hat for sure!

    Never been audited but have heard too many horror stories about the IRS. Unfortunately the taxpayers have little or no recourse. The solution is to change the tax structure to eliminate the IRS. The worst mistake this country ever made, other than Roe v Wade, was passing the 16th Amendment.

    Sorry. Even the FBI has admitted most of the wiretaps were useless, between people with no links to terrorism. I'd be pleased to see your evidence that even a majority of them were between terrorists and other people.

    We'll know that when you support your statement with some evidence.

    Be careful Ponch, or you may find yourself in the Ministry of Love in room 101 for having a memory longer than the average propaganda cycle. Don't forget Big Brother's third point.

    IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

    I can feel the love already. Can't you feel the love C4K?

    Give me liberty or send me to the prison factory. I hear they'll be the only ones hiring Americans soon anyway.

    At least on the internet there is a chance of going over all the information on a certain subject, check refs, follow leads etc. I prefer this system than to be force fed what the big 5 corporations would have us believe at face value. [IMG]

    I also like the idea of going back in the news archives (days, months, years) to see how a story takes shape over time. I don't miss out on all the retractions that way. ;)

    Could you identify those 5 "BIG CORPORATIONS". I need to know the ones to which I should listen. I thought there were at least 500 [The S&P 500]. That would sure lesson my labors.

    Sure OR, no problem. Here's "the big ten", I think there's been some mergers since this was written. CBS just merged with Via-Com, Disney merged with Turner. Teds not happy about being leveraged out after the deal either he lost billions. boo hoo.

    Here's an interesting chart. Who Controls the Media?

    Probably would be a safe bet that if you see or hear it broadcast on mainstream tv or radio it's globalist controlled.

    Surely you are not going to claim that NBC, CBS, ABC, or CNN are pro Bush.

    I Haven't listened to network news since the days of ABC's Howard K. Smith. Gave up on CNN, the Clinton News Network. I currently listen to Fox News, fair and balanced with a conservative, or perhaps truthful, bias! :D [IMG] :D [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    You know Fox isn't bad if you can get past the obvious display of propaganda looks like Vince McMahon designed it, but it isn't so much what they are telling us it's what they aren't telling us. I'd say for the most part they are truthful but they blackout for lack of a better word alot of important information. As do all the mainstream media.

    The absolute worst propaganda is on prime time tv shows and in the movie theater. Conditioning is found abundantly in both the networks and Hollywood though. Commercials are mostly conditioning. That's why there's so many of them. They work.

    I believe there is a big liberal bias OR don't get me wrong. But look at who owns the media and who their biggest advertizers are. Most could be considered "conservative" advertizers call the shots. If they don't like the programing they pull their ads and millions if not billions of bucks. They got the power. And they have their own agendas...the bottom line. They have more rights than either the people or the government through their incorporation, treaties, contracts and what not.
