I think it is time that the Bush administration was knocked off it's high horse. Unfortunately, think it is being shown to be a danger to this country remaining a nation of laws.

This revelation makes me even more glad that I stopped identifying with the GOP months ago.

I have noticed that every time Bush gets himself in a jam, the Bush-backers always bring up Clinton.

I'm not in a Jam. I stated my view of it clearly, and I bet alot of folks agree with my view. But I can't see a reason to be overly concerned. He has not tried to cover anyting up and the demos were completely aware of whatever activities were going on, so I just don't see a reason to be concerned unless you are afraid Bush is going to report some indescretion. However, Clinton lied and recruited his whole cabnet to lie.

If it is shown that Bush has broken the law, will you hold him to the same standard that you do Clinton?

If we find that he willingly broke the law, will you call for his impeachment?

    I doubt it!

First of all, even Mormon Harry Reid said that whoever broke this story to the press should be prosecuted. The President said that this was a top secret matter.

The New York Times is guilty of treason for breaking this story in order to play partisan politics on behalf of the Democrats. The New York Times gave information to the enemy about how our government works. It is the editor of The New York Times who should be arrested.

"Wow! So you think it's okay to break the law if it is something you consider to be good. Wow! You can't pick and choose lawbreaking. If you are going to permit for actions you approve of then you are going to have to permit for actions that you do not approve of.

If Hillary Clinton was president I wonder if you would be so willing to give the benefit of the doubt? "-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll tell you KenH, I am in one of the most highly regulated professions on the planet, and I can't avoid breaking a reg her or there on rare occasion. But I and my colleagues are true the the spirit of the law and make every effort to follow the letter of the law. If Bush has broken the spirit of the law and spyed on an American citizen for some selfish reason, I'll be the first to call for his resignation. As far as I can see, he has been true to the spirit of the law. And I can't see how you can doubt it given that the demo leadership was fully briefed and aware. But I forgot you want a demo in office next, so STONE HIM!

Even if a limited number of Congressional leaders were made aware of it that is not like the whole Congress knew about it, and we the people certainly didn't know about it.

The Bush administration needs to be slapped down on this and I hope it is slapped down and slapped down hard!

    Stop lying about me!

I wrote earlier about next November in the Congressional elections. Not that it matters in my district as the incumbent Democrat is a lock for re-election for as long as he wants the job as long as he remains in good standing with the NRA and its supporters.

Here is what Rice said today:

but the president has been very well informed that he has the constitutional and other authorities to do this.

There is a certain urgency to the kind of information that is attached to detecting terrorist threats within the United States, a certain urgency that is attached to understanding communications between people who are communicating inside the United States with terrorist organizations or activities outside of the United States.

And I think we don't ever want to be caught again in a situation in which we were before 9/11, where we know, for instance, the terrorists in San Diego were communicating inside the United States and we didn't know about it.

The New York Times is guilty of treason.

Even Mormon Hary Reid disagrees with you on that point, Ken.

The spying can be done legally. There was no reason for the Bush administration to have perhaps broken the law except for its own hubris.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid called Sunday for congressional hearings and investigations into President Bush's authorization of domestic spying as part of the war on terror.

"This Congress has done very little oversight," Reid, D-Nev., said on "Fox News Sunday." "There should be an investigation and hearings."

Reid acknowledged that he was briefed by the administration about the surveillance program "a couple of months ago." But he said the program apparently has been going on for four years and "there's no way the president can pass the buck."

Bush on Saturday also attacked the disclosure. "As a result, our enemies have learned information they should not have," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "The unauthorized disclosure of this effort damages our national security and puts our citizens at risk."

Reid also said that this was potentially worse than Valerie Plame and that whoever broked this story should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

To my knowledge, in the Republic of the United States it's illegal to wiretap an American citizen on a domestic call without a court order. Bush admitted that he had signed a Presidential order to do just that. Therefore, Bush broke the law. Any questions?

    Rice also said this:

RICE: Well, the intelligence professionals here do use FISA, and we've used FISA, but FISA is a 1978 act. It does relate to a time when we were principally concerned about the activities of people working on behalf of governments or the activities of governments.

This is a different circumstance, and the president, in order to discharge his obligations to detect and thereby prevent terrorist attacks inside the United States has drawn on additional authorities that are granted to him in the Constitution and in other statutes as well.

Bush broke no laws. The New York Times has compromised the security of the American people in order to sell books. They are guilty of revealing secrets to the enemy during time of war and someone should be arrested. The Democrats are not charging that laws were broken but that they were not well-informed about what was happening.

We are at war. We do have domestic enemies and traitors inside this country.

Well, I think if you think there is some guy in a trench coat listening to you phone conversations, well, you just got a wrong impression. And I think it was calls out of the country not domestic calls to your bookie or Aunt Martha.

Apparently, the Bush administration decided domestic citizens are domestic enemies, even those of us who voted to put them in power.
