Actually, we have three equal branches of government - the presidency, the Congress, the judiciary.

The only sure way to stop all abortions except to save the life of the mother is to amend the U.S. Constitution.

    </font>[/QUOTE]Ken,

From a political point of view, I agree with you, although, the liberal judges could concievably just twist the ammendment to fit whatever agenda they have.

From a spiritual point of view, I would say that it is always possible that God would bring a revival to our country and through the work of his spirit, change the hearts of man.

    Pennsylvania Jim sez:
PJ, I really feel pity for someone so obsessed with "crucifying" Pres. Bush as you seem to be.

    Pennsylvania Jim further sez:
So, by this statement you feel that Pres. Bush just wasted his time signing the bill? He takes a step in the right direction, and instead of being thankful, you condemn, because 'The same babies will likely be killed now with other "more acceptable" methods.'

Short of UTOPIA, what will satisfy you? I'm really interested, 'cause UTOPIA ain't gonna happen!!

I agree with Joseph...that the only way for abortion (all kinds) to end is for Christians to share Jesus with unbelievers. Then the Holy Spirit will do the work of changing hearts.

Guys, think of all the press abortion has gotten during this fight for the Partial Birth Abortion! Studies have shown that support for abortion in general is falling. Can the Lord not use this media frenzy to educate and shock even unsaved young ladies into the realization that this is a BABY and not a lump of tissue?

Only the hardest of hearts could see a precious tiny infant on an ultra sound and then demand it be ripped from her body. I hope every abortion clinic is equipped so that every woman has to see her child before the decision to abort is made!

I've got the ultra sound b/w print outs of several of our grandbabies hanging on my fridge and the kids are now 3, 9 months and 5 months! I did put Nick's away, finally. He's almost 9 years old.

While it is good to protect the unborn babies, politicians such as Mr. Bush are destroying these babies's futures with the (un)Patriot Act, $500 billion yearly federal deficits, foreign adventurism, etc., etc., etc.

So let's remember to support politicians that expand and defend the freedom these babies need to prosper as human beings after they are born. We shouldn't end our political concern for them the moment they safely exit the womb.

Man, what a depressing view Ken. Of course not only the babies who will be saved by this new law, but all face the same future. Perhaps we should just take a vow of celibacy and spare them all the fates you mentioned. :(

These babies also have a chance to serve our gracious God in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. Does EVERYTHING in every thread have to turn to an attack on President Bush? Readers of my posts know I am not great supporter of Bush, but he did a good thing here, why not admit it?

On a separate thread on October 22 I wrote, "I applaud the Congress for doing this and President Bush for his anticipated signature."

Unfortunately, it has been pointed out that doctors may use other methods to achieve the same goal of these several thousand murders that take place each year. So the practical effect of the ban will probably be much less than what the symbolism of it suggests.

And, if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns the ban, it will be judges appointed by Republicans that do it. Remember that the next time you vote for a Republican.

I find this rather contradictory since...

    A. The US (under Bush) has rejoined UNESCO after a 20 year abscence,

    and...

    B. UNESCO Calls Abortion on Demand "Proper" Medical Procedure for Girls

    Source

This is "Protecting the Unborn all Around the Globe?"

Is there a "disconnect" here or am I missing something? :(

Ken: Let's concentrate on getting them safely out of the womb first.

Roger: I don't understand that either. Whether one likes President Bush or not, we should give credit where credit is due.

It may be depressing but as long as we have the right to vote we can do our individual part to change things to limited, constitutional government in these United States of America.

The disconnect is that conservatives believe Republican campaign rhetoric and vote for Republicans. Then Republicans ignore them until the next election comes around and rev up the rhetoric again. I've done that myself but I have now hopped off that merry-go-round.

Conservatives are like Charlie Brown. They really believe that Lucy(Republicans) won't move the football away this time.

Some are blind in their support of the president.

Others are blind in their hatred of him.

I think the President should be commended for the Partial Abortion Ban. I think he needs to further push for the ending of all Federal funding to Abortion. Bush did block Federal funding to International abortions http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2001/1/22/150154.shtml and once again should be recognized

The President and the Congress needs to do the same and State governments need to act in ending State abortion funding. Here is an excellent article at [IMG] Libertarians For Life

...and some are no longer blind (to the truth), yet do not hate him. But will not vote for him again. :(

Pointing out the utter disconnect between Republican Party rhetoric and Republican Party practice is hardly blind hatred.

If the Republican Party really means what it says about abortion then lets see them lay their political life as a party on the line by immediately bringing to the floor of both houses of Congress an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to totally ban abortion except to save the life of the mother(very strictly worded, of course).

But they won't. But at least they can still use their campaign rhetoric to get elected and re-elected and keep their big, fat salaries in Washington while over a million unborn babies are murdered every year. [IMG]

I agree with you all that the President needs to do MUCH more to protect the unborn and the born. I find much of his policy distasteful and even abhorant at times.

What has bothered me has been the derailing of this thread praising Pres Bush for one of the few good thinsg he has done. There are plenty of threads to attack the president and I have joined you on some of them - even been called un-American for it. Must we really use every thread to attack him?

Maybe you can find a way to attack him on the "To Clause or not to Clause" thread [IMG] .
