Helen, if you knew how much editing I do to my replies before I post them, you'd commend me.

I'm sure you do, Aaron. I've seen you when you are upset! (only friendship and fellow moderatorship implied, folks!) However, here is part of your Bible quote from above with my emphasis:

Galatians 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife....

Why oh why is there so much strife on a Christian board????

Galatians 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like.

There Paul does not give us an exhaustive list, but leaves it open to include all those activities which are like the ones listed.
[Ironically, you chose to reference the Book of Galatians.]
You are wrong again. “And such like” implies exactly that. If one takes the time to read the entire Book, they will understand the "and such like." Moreover, show us the extra-Biblical sources of sin. What other sources of information are required to augment what God has given us in His Holy Word?

But I have already shown that the commandment, "Thou shalt not commit adultery" isn't just about sex. It is about anything that is contrary to, inconsistent with, useless or besetting in fulfilling the commandment, "Husbands, love your wives," and "Wives submit unto your own husbands." And that touches a wide array of behavior that has become acceptable in our promiscuous culture.
You have not shown anything even remotely approaching that which you claim. Once again, simply making the assertion that something has been proven without sufficiently doing so is not proof. In this particular post, you have simply reiterated a point upon which nobody disagrees. You have failed in proving your contention that simply eating lunch with someone of the opposite sex is “contrary” to the teachings of God. Undoubtedly, you will supply us with yet another unjustified claim that you have proven this.

And Aaron, one more time:

You made a charge that my behavior was adulterous. Again, I am publicly exhorting you to supply proof to support your contention. It is time to exhibit some maturity and support your charge. If you cannot supply this, then the prudent thing to do is to apologize.

Great point there...

My best guess would be that, despite having the common trait of being Baptists, we are all human and flawed, and interpreting with absolute accuracy even the wisdom and clarity of scripture is impossible. As we grow in our relationship with God, more and more truth is revealed to us, but with the relationships I've experienced with God and with other Christians, the most prudent thing I can point out is that our understanding of God's nature and his moral commands for us is always imperfect, and there is always room to grow.

This has been a good thread; I've participated a lot myself. However, we are rehashing the rehases, and it is getting too personal.

The party's over....

For the record, I re-read the posts, and I probably should have closed this thing two days ago.
