By His stripes we are healed !

1 Pet 2:24-25

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

See also Isa 53:5 If all for whom Christ died [the meaning of stripes] are not healed, evidenced by returning to God vs 25, then Christ's Death did not effect its God given Purpose ! It did not do its Job. What should Christ's stripes heal us from if He dies for our sins ? It will deliver us from the deadly wound sin and estrangement from God !

That word heal is the greek word iaomai

to cure, heal

2) to make whole

a) to free from errors and sins, to bring about (one's) salvation

or to bring about ones conversion, in order to live unto Righteousness !

Christ stripes heal's from death in a similar vein as in Rev 13:12

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Christ's Death for the Elect heals the deadly wound of sin. So Christ's Death for His People is the basis of life from the dead ! If all for whom Christ died are not given Life Spiritual from the dead, His death was of none effect, and His stripes were a failure, and yet to their shame, many today will say that all for whom Christ died will not be healed ! Will not experience Salvation !

What is the purpose of all these threads you are starting if you don't even know if you or anyone else is one of the "elect"? They are great Scriptures, but whom are they addressing and for whom are they applicable?

I am not quite sure I understand the objection. The elect are those chosen by God from the foundation of the world to be his heirs (Eph 1:3-6). If you mean that I cannot identify which individuals are in that catagory then in one sense you are right, but in another you are wrong for doesn't the scripture teach that we know each other by our fruits?

I think it is a return to the objection many non-Calvinists level that a Calvinist cannot know or prove inescapably that they are personally indeed one of the "elect" themselves.....Many non-Cals think that ultimately, no Calvinist could (consistent with their Theology) know whether they were, in fact, one of the "elect" themselves or be 100% positive of their own salvation. At least not deductively.

My objection is this: SBM is continually starting threads and quoting Scripture verses and every one of those posts and every one of those Scripture verses he lists in those posts are only applicable to the "elect"....but the "elect" is never defined and when SBM is asked how he knows he is one of the "elect" he has NEVER answered the question. His "type" of response is to post more Scripture verses...and on and on it goes. It is becoming redundant.

My thoughts on election:

1. Election is based on God's foreknowledge (1 Peter 1:2).

2. Election means God planned man's salvation before the creation (Ephesians 1:5,11). It means God, by his foreknowledge, has predestinated the Christian to a glorious future (1 Peter 1:2-4; Romans 8:29-30). It is not who is predestinated, but what we are predestinated to.

3. Election does not mean God arbitrarily chooses who will be saved and who will not be. He has revealed that He wants all men to be saved (2 Peter 3:9).

Many in organized religion do not believe what Peter wrote or what the Prophet Isaiah wrote about the accomplishment of Christ's death or His Stripes, that they do heal spiritually.

Todays religionists tell us that Christ's Death or stripes only makes healing possible, which is a lie and contradicts this very scripture testimony !

the problem is that he views election in a Hyper fashion, so much that he sees sinners elected out by god and already justifed before God by the death of christ on their behalf BEFORE they have to actually receive jesus by faith in oder to become saved and secured in him!

he has sinners who are also reconciled to god before having salvation and new natures/Holy spirit indwelling them!

JESUS Himself told others that UNLESS they receive Him by faith as the messiah, they shall DIE IN THEIR SINS!

is that not in your bible, or do you know things Christ was ignorant too?
