But y'all say Obama should not do what his predecessors did.

Here are the numbers you need to know about the use of executive action to enhance the functioning of our immigration system:

39: The number of times U.S. presidents have taken executive action from 1956 through the present.

11: The number of U.S. presidents who have taken executive action on immigration. Every single president since President Eisenhower, regardless of political party, has used administrative action to shape immigration policy.
More than 600,000: The number of Cubans who fled the Castro regime between 1959 and 1972 and were admitted into the United States outside of the normal visa system.

1.5 million: The number of spouses and children of immigrants who had gained legal status under the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986 and became eligible for deferred action in 1990 under President George H.W. Bush’s “Family Fairness” policy.
580,946: The number of young people who have received DACA—the two-year reprieve from deportation that also grants a work permit—since the program began in 2012.

12.7 years: The median years of residence among the unauthorized immigrant population—up from 8.6 years in 2007.
More than one in three: The amount of unauthorized adult immigrants living with their U.S. citizen children.

$44.96 billion: The increase in payroll tax revenues that would occur over the next five years if President Obama granted deferred action to unauthorized immigrants who have been in the United States for at least five years.

Shows you just do not get it. The nature and manner in which this was done it the issue. Not executive action in and of itself. Left leaning Johnathan Turley and Constitutional Scholar said it is unprecedented.

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

President Eisenhower got it right!

Fifty-three years ago, when newly elected Dwight Eisenhower moved into the White House, America's southern frontier was as porous as a spaghetti sieve. As many as 3 million illegal migrants had walked and waded northward over a period of several years for jobs in California, Arizona, Texas, and points beyond.

President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents – less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol.

Although there is little to no record of this operation in Ike's official papers, one piece of historic evidence indicates how he felt. In 1951, Ike wrote a letter to Sen. William Fulbright (D) of Arkansas. The senator had just proposed that a special commission be created by Congress to examine unethical conduct by government officials who accepted gifts and favors in exchange for special treatment of private individuals.

General Eisenhower, who was gearing up for his run for the presidency, said "Amen" to Senator Fulbright's proposal. He then quoted a report in The New York Times, highlighting one paragraph that said: "The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican 'wetbacks' to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the highest levels of the Federal Government."

Years later, the late Herbert Brownell Jr., Eisenhower's first attorney general, said in an interview with this writer that the president had a sense of urgency about illegal immigration when he took office.

I should take the word of a leftist democrat? You must be jokin!

The truth is painful when it does it shows your prejudice is just that ... prejudice.

Pres. Dwight Eisenhower:
1956

By executive order, circumvented immigration quotas to allow 900 orphans to join their adoptive families in the U.S.

1956-1958

By executive order, allowed 31,000 Hungarian anti-Soviet insurgents to emigrate.

1959-72

By executive order, allowed 600,000 Cubans fleeing Castro to emigrate.

Oh, and George Bush the first used five executive orders helping aliens and George Bush II used four.. Hmmm, and all three were Republicans.

I think that it is fair to conclude that CTB supports this imperial edict of the Emperor and that CTB is calling the GOP racist for opposing it since he thinks wrongly that white Presidents did the same thing as the Black Emperor.

Perhaps it is the white??? half of the Black Emperor who is the guilty party.

New DHS immigration rules: Drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, gun offenders not top deportation priorities

The Department of Homeland Security has just released new "Policies for the Apprehension, Detention, and Removal of Undocumented Immigrants." Designed to fill in the details after President Obama's announcement that at least four million currently illegal immigrants will be given work permits, Social Security numbers and protection from deportation, the DHS guidelines are instructions for the nation's immigration and border security officers as they administer the president's directive.

The new priorities are striking. On the tough side, the president wants U.S. immigration authorities to go after terrorists, felons, and new illegal border crossers. On the not-so-tough side, the administration views convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders as second-level enforcement priorities. An illegal immigrant could spend up to a year in prison for a violent crime and still not be a top removal priority for the Obama administration.

Texas prisons have thousands of illegal alien prisoners. Texas County and state Jails have even more.

A lot of them are in for repeated drunk driving and various sex crimes.

Costing the citizens of the state of Texas millions of dollars every year.

The feds refuse to deport them and refuse to contribute to the cost of incarceration.

It's about to get worse. A lot worse.

As I said on another thread we need a little revolution in this country or there will be no more country. Texas, for example, could easily secede. They are sufficiently large and their natural resources and economy are such that they could go it alone. The remainder of the Confederacy could come out as a block and make it ok given the access to the waterways they have. I believe most of the oil is refined in Texas and Louisiana!

Illegals have broken the law just by entering illegally. It is clear that Mexico is pushing its criminal element into this country. The Mexican upper class is very cheap.

Reagan acted in accordance with a federal law. So did Bush Sr. As for Eisenhower, at one point both he and Truman closed the border to Mexicans because of US recessions.

Confederacy? Civil War? You sound like a person that just made the FBI's watch list.
