 Amen to that. I am a nervous person too! I quite Caffeine when I started having Panic Attacks some 3 years ago. I was terrified to drink ANYTHING with Caffeine in it. Now every now and then I have a Cappachino and I start buzzing around and getting freaked out, so now I go de- cafe Cappi! But like my Husband likes to remind me also, Chocolate has a lot of caffeine in it too and that NEVER stops me from eating it! :D
    Love in Christ Angie

    I totally agree - Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!Java!

Drink more Coffee - Do stupid things faster!

I used to drink a lot of coffee in class and I'd be like a sponge soaking up information. I don't see anything wrong with 1 cup of coffee or even 2 cups of coffee. The only thing that I've noticed and I have to look out for is that caffiene makes your blood vessels and capilaries constrict and in some people like myself this can be dangerous. Some peoples capilarries can constrict too much and they get dizzy and can even faint. I also had a problem with a vein in the back of my head being spastic that was being caused by stress and caffiene. It would constrict and release all of a sudden and I'd black out for a split second. Because of all this I tend to drink tea and get plenty of exercise.

I'm drinking a cup of joe right now! Of course being a third shift (12:00 AM to 8:00 AM) Security Officer requires that one drink coffee. Okay, so its not a requirement but it sure is nice a have a steaming hot cup of coffee when you come in from walking the rounds in the winter. :D

I don't drink coffee but I do drink cokes. I have been on and off them for several years.
I am a low energy person and if I am off of caffeine I go to sleep at 7:00pm.
If any one could give me some ideas on how to keep my energy level up in the afternoons I would gladly stay off of the caffeine.
    Any suggestions????

No coffee. Can't stand the taste (which is also the reason I don't drink beer).

No soda. Don't want the empty calories from regular soda, and the artifial sweeteners from diet.

    Occasional green tea.

Mostly water, or water and creatine mix after a workout (I'm in my 'on' cycle right now).

My wife would joke that I am addicted to milk (either 1% or skim). I personally go through about 2.5 - 3 gallons a week (Protein shakes, dinner drinks, misc "I'm thirsty, what is there to drink besides water?" drinks)

So, I don't have a problem with caffiene. Maybe a problem with dairy ;)

I just started to drink coffee. After an initial binge, about two cups a day(a lot for me) I slowed down to about two a week.

I did concoct an interesting sports drink, though. I play basketball two mornings a week, and the past three times I had this mix. 1/2 coffee, 1/2 whole milk, 1 T Coconut oil. It's incredible, I've had unbelievable energy.

Anyway, I think coffee and caffeine are OK in moderation. Does give a nice pep in the morning.

I loved my coffee! But I had to cut back. I used to drink at least 3/4 of a pot a day if not more. Started having stomach problems and now only at the most I may drink two or three cups a day. Also used to put 1 to 2 tsp. of sugar in each cup. That wasn't good! Now I drink it with just a little milk no sugar. Boy was I packing the calories and caffeine. Feel much better now. The headaches at first were a killer, but they soon subsided. It was worth it. :D FYG

If we gave up caffeine, we would have to give up our cigarettes and marijuana, too.

Fags and marywanna have caffeine too? I didn't know that. I do know that tea has more caffeine than does coffee. I always have a cuppa before bedtime, and never have a problem sleeping.....well, almost never...

    Cheers,

    Jim

I drink very little caffeine. It gives me a headache if I have too much. Most of the time, I drink water or juices.

    Coffee Facts:

A cup of drip brewed coffee has about 115 milligrams of caffeine, an espresso (and percolated coffee) about 80mg, while instant coffee has about 65mg of caffeine. Decaffeinated coffee is not totally caffeine free, containing about 3mg of caffeine. A can of Coca-Cola has about 23mg of caffeine, Pepsi Cola 25mg, Mountain Dew 37mg, and TAB 31mg. Tea has about 40mg of caffeine, while an ounce of chocolate contains about 20mg.

Coffee is the world's most popular stimulant: 4 out of 5 Americans drink it, consuming more than 400 million cups a day. Consumption in Scandinavian countries is more than 12kg (26lb) per capita. With more than 25 million people employed in the industry, coffee is second only to oil in world trade.

Although coffee is believed to have been grown near the Red Sea since the 7th century, an Arabian author of the 15th century, Shehabeddin Ben, wrote that Ethiopians enjoyed coffee ever since anyone could remember. By the 16th centuries, coffee plants were found throughout the Yemen region of Arabia. After a Turkish ambassador introduced it to the court of Louis XIV in 1669, Europeans quickly acquired a taste for it. A few years later, the Dutch introduced coffee into Java. In 1714, the Frenchman Desclieux planted a single cutting of a coffee tree on the island of Martinique. Plantations soon grew from French Guiana to Brazil and Central America. Today, coffee is planted in moist regions around the world.

Red coffee beans ready for picking
Coffee is the seed of a cherry from the tree genus Coffea, a tree yielding about 1kg (2lb) of coffee per year. There are more than 25 species of coffee, the 3 main commercial types being Robusta, Liberia and Arabica, the latter representing 70% of total production.

Caffeine increases the power of aspirin and other painkillers, that is why it is found in some medicines. Ironically, caffeine withdrawal also is one of the most common causes of headaches. Women who drink 2 or more cups of coffee a day also have an increased risk of developing osteoporosis. This, however, can be offset by drinking milk or yoghurt to replace the lost calcium. Most studies have found that high caffeine consumption impairs fertility, and taken during pregnancy may cause premature or defected birth.

Caffeine is removed from coffee by treating the green beans with chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents. Instant coffee is prepared by mixing ground and roasted coffee with hot water. The water is then evaporated by spray dryers and high pressure, leaving only the coffee powder. In some coffee products, coffee is replaced with chicory (a wildflower herb), fig, date, malt, or barley, remotely resembling real coffee.

Be not drunk with wine, but filled with the Spirit.

Are you driving or being driven? Any stimulant is a drug that controls the system. Caffeine is legal and plentiful (coffee, chocolate, mountain dew) and definitely affects and controls the body.

Cannot imagine all the sermons about alcohol and its effect on the body/mind, and NONE about caffeine. I've got a couple of good ones I feel like preaching right now.

After another cuppa joe . . .
