California # 1 in poverty

"Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor. That's according to the Census Bureau's Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income."

Why?

Why is liberal California the poverty capital of America?

A bit surprised to see an article like this in that rag but, basically, what you got here is a sanctuary state plus a big safety net that adds up to Mexifornia. Taxpayers are fleeing the state as fast as illegal aliens are sneaking across its border and this is the result.

Soon California will be printing its own currency (Featuring a portrait of Jerry Brown).

If they split into two states, the costal area could become part of Hawaii.

Saw a video of part of the Los Angeles skid row near downtown; they have wall-to-wall tents on the sidewalks for many blocks. With so many millions of poor, California should be first in poverty for many decades.

Yes, saw a similar video of the slums of LA. Simply sad to see what has happened to that once-great city and to the entire once-great state. There is actually a movement afoot to slice CA's interior and extreme northern region into a new state they want to call "New California", but you know the state government and Moonbeam will fight that with all their might.

that's the one and they are not finished trying to redistribute the wealth there:

California Democrats want businesses to give half their tax-cut savings to state

won't pass, yet. There is already a state named New Mexico, they could rename California "Northern Venezuela".
