California Request Federal Assistance

Gov. Gavin "Twosome" Newsome is reportedly asking for Federal assistance because of the recent earthquake. Since he has proclaimed California a "Sanctuary State" and will not help Federal law enforcement, I don't think we should give him one thin dime of Federal money. He should make his request to the Mexican or one of the Central American governments since he seems to like their citizens so much.

Trump has already promised the money, so it doesn't matter at this point. The problem is that you cannot punish the governor without hurting innocent people.

I wish an earth quake would level that Hell hole state flat as the fire that rained on Sodom leveled it.

Those "innocent" people elected those Godless dogs that rule the state and cities.

California has been bragging of late that they have like a 20 billion dollar surplus, that they have the 4th or 5th largest economy in the world. They should be able to take care of their own people since they hate Federal "intervention" in their internal affairs so much. Not one thin dime!

I disagree. The federal government should not withold funding for a qualified natural disaster. California's social problems are another issue.

Trump promising them money means exactly nothing. I doubt California sees any help from him.

Trump threatens to cut millions from fire departments in California after deadly wildfires

Trump threatens to cut millions from fire departments in California after deadly wildfires
MAY 20, 2019

Officials in California are crying foul over a Trump administration plan to slash firefighting assistance payments to the state, which could amount to millions of dollars in lost income for fire departments.
The new demands from the Forest Service also come against the backdrop of an ongoing political fight between California and President Donald Trump, who has lobbed a series of critiques and threats regarding the cost of fighting wildfires in the state.

“Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen,” Trump tweeted in January. “Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!”

Of course Trump as usual makes up the funding number.

That was in response to the State of California's refusal to cut back under brush and do regular controlled burns. Those activities would have like saved lives in that those fires were driven by dead brush that rapidly fueled those fieres to he point that they were nearly impossible to control. Many people died as a result.

Governor Brown was a radical environmentalist and it is those policies that kept the state from taking measures that would have prevented many of these fires from getting out of control. It was the Forestry Management's job to get rid of that under brush and they failed to do so because of radical environmentalist policies.
