House OKs GOP bill expanding gun owners' rights

WASHINGTON — Republicans rammed a bill through the House on Wednesday that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people.

The House approved the bill, 231-198, largely along party lines. The measure would allow gun owners with a state-issued concealed-carry permit to carry a handgun in any state that allows concealed weapons. It now goes to the Senate.

I don't follow politics much, but I think that the term refers specifically to abortion. The argument would be like arguing the DNC is not "pro-choice" because they don't want everyone to get to choose which gun to carry.

So I live in communist New Jersey which prohibits any carry (concealed or open). So if I go over the boarder in Pennsylvania and obtain a consealed permit, can I then bring it to NJ and be legally protected by the Feds?

Awesome. The safest places in the US are those with the highest legal gun ownership.

As I understand it, in the case you posit no. Because from what I understand CC permits are only issued to residents of that given state. However, if you are a Pennsylvania resident and travel into NJ, that's where this law kicks in. But, considering what little I know of NJ gun laws, I wouldn't want to rely on this law to keep me out of an NJ jail.

My son just informed me that right now only 2 states—Florida and Utah have out of state carry permits... so I could be able to go to either state, secure the weapon / sidearm and legally carry in Fla w/o being a resident. Now if this goes through, technically I can carry in NJ. Now the State Police may disagree:confused:

It's a valid argument that if a person is issued a driver's license in one state, that license is valid in any other state. Why should a concealed carry license be different? If there is a legal difference, it must have to do with the Constitution, in which keeping and bearing arms is a right, but operating a motor vehicle is not.

So it stands to reason that the states (Washington, Mass, Colorado) all have made Pot legal so since it is illegal in other states I should be able to transport it and use it in states like New Jersey that currently do not offer that same opportunity.

The cc had nothing at all to do with the pro life issue
A kid just coming out of high school where he got good grades and a promising future goes to NJIT (Institute of Technology) building in Newark a little early so he walks across the street to a 711 to get beverage prior to class. While in the store a miscrient accosts him and with an illegal hand gun proceeds to shoot off both the kids hands off then he kills the kid.

May I ask ... you know what, you draw your own conclusions.

Except we have a fed law that it is still illegal. Isn't fed law suppose to supersede state law?

And allowing a law abiding citizen to protect themselves with a gun carry anywhere in the US is NOT pro-life???

Let's just fight it out on Main Street at high noon. Actually it was 3 in the afternoon at the OK Corral.

The larger issue is the sanctity of life. As Christians we should support that because all human life is precious to God, born and un-born.
