Baylor-bound Hailey-Lou Vaske was escorted out the church's sanctuary by police after using her valedictory speech to sound off about humiliation and screwups by Calvary Baptist Academy staff:

Good!

As Valedictorian, supposedly with sufficient gray-matter to know the purpose of her being selected to give a speech, and what the topic of the speech was limited to; she proved herself incompetent.

And the Superintendent proved himself competent in stopping her incompetence from proceeding.

I read the article. This girl has some legit beef with the school. The scholarship stuff would make my blood pressure rise.

So? The girl ELECTED to go to THAT school. If she does not LIKE HOW the school operates, she had the right to schedule a meeting and tell them "her beefs". And the School has a right to set their own by-laws. And she had a right to select another school to attend.

Vaske was selected to speak at graduation.
There was a protocol to be kept pertaining to her speech.
She was warned deviation from protocol would result in unfavorable consequences.
She chose to deviate from protocol.
She received an unfavorable consequence.

Boo Hoo. Welcome to accountability!

She complained about the schools accountability, of making sure her transcripts were received on time by a University she wanted to attend.

The University DID receive her transcripts BEFORE the deadline.

Funny - she complains about being held accountable for her actions, while wagging her tongue, attempting to discredit her own school FOR being accountable!

Point is Vaske wanted to use the graduation STAGE and MIKE (of ALL students), as her personal whining soapbox, and was stopped.

Good!

If Vaske want to rents a stage, and sound system, and PAY FOR IT, and invite guests to hear her whining, she has that right.....

Geez, why are you so unusually defensive about this. All I said was that she had a legit beef, i.e. playing it somewhat reckless with her submittal. Yes it got done but it's somebody's future in your hands so maybe respect that and not wait to the last minute.

Really John?
Whoa dude.
Alas, there are no tongue-in-cheek emoticons on the BB. My intended point was that there are currently much better schools out there than Baylor (from which my Granddad graduated in about 1920 or so).

Haven't you guys kept up on the current scandal at Baylor? The football team there has an alleged long history of assault. See this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/09/sports/baylor-football-sexual-assault.html?_r=0

Not defensive. You state what you want to say. I state what I want to say. Period.

Ooookay. I mean my comment was an open comment and your comment was in response to me and didn't have anything to do with my comment so I guess you just wanted to rant?

Twice now you have made a derogatory remark to me. I'm busy today and don't have time to accommodate giving you attention to your hissy fit.

Yes, I am familiar with both Baylor and the assault issues. (Very sad situation all the way around. However, I am encouraged by the new president, AD and Head Football Coach. Interestingly, the former AD ended up going to Liberty of all places.) Just surprised at the comment from you.

We need a tongue-in-cheek smiley face. I thought my irony would be easily understood. Anyway, glad to know that Baylor's new leaders are addressing the issues. But the very fact that things were allowed to go this far into degradation is disturbing, to say the least.
