I thought Jesus commanded the apostles that; not "us".
Therefore, to say what you say, " It is for us to obey, and Jesus commands us to go and tell. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" is a contradiction. If faith comes by hearing, the hearing is from the - existing - Scriptures; not from "us".
I don't believe in 'mission'; no Christian after the apostles is an apostle.
I don't believe in 'converting' people; it is the work and prerogative of the Holy Spirit.
But to understand salvation, yes!
That's why i believe in God's sovereign Election.
One listens to the Word proclaimed to deepen one's experience and certainty in and of God's grace.
That is never 'mission' ... as someone said above ... when 'preachers' ever and anon become Arminians or 'free-will enticers'.
