Can A Baptist be A cal And NOT be "Reformed?"

If he was a 4 pointer then he did not hold to the DoG.

Question remains IF Calvin himself held though to "4 or 5 points". as he did write in his view that Jesus death as the atonement was indeed propiation/able to pay for all sins of whole world, but effectionally applied only those those whow ere elected on by God to receive Christ...

Think IF phrased that way, most 4 pointers like myself are 5 pointers!

This is accurate:smilewinkgrin:

progressive/modern Dispy theology as 'smoothed" out the differences to some extent, as they do see different programs for Church/Isreal, but tend to also see one people of God, as that God always worked under a covenant of Grace in different dispensations of time, and that some also have dropped rapture to what was called "historical premil" view!

The O.T. animal sacrifices will be restored in the Millennium.

Really, thats just nuts!

Depends if one takes a literal view of prophecy being interpretated , as I would, or to spiritaul/allogorical, regarding Ezeckiel temple!

As that is when woud have the restored temple, either a ohysical one, or else refering to the Covenant of Grace for 'spirtual isreal"

Both Isaiah/John saw future Kingsom Age upon earth, when Jerusalem would be "capital city" and when all nations would come there to meet the God of both Church and of isreal!

Definite atonement is a critical part of the DoG. One cannot hold to the DoG without believing in definite atonement. The same as one cannot call themselves a dispensationalist while rejecting the rapture.

Differing views on timing of rapture in Dispy, and some have returned to historical pre mil, as in progressive wing of the Dispy camp!

Also, one can be a cal, and still disgree on IF jesus actually died for all, while effectually only towards the Elect, view Calvin himself at times seemed to lean towards, or else IF ONLY died for sins of the elect period...

S. Lewis Johnson, who really appreciated Chafer in many ways "sitting at his feet" as it were, did not, however regard him as a Calvinist. He mentions Chafer in many of his messages.

By the way,John MacArthur regards S.L.J. as being one of the finest preacher/theologians of the 20th century. The later died a few years ago.

I read his transcripts regularly. He was a dispensationalist. A flaw in his otherwise impeccable theology.

Think that was not a "flaw", but a strenght!
