Can a Christian sin?

Yes, I believe these and I attempt to live by them by the power of the Holy Spirit. But since I am not perfect, I do fail, so I do sin.

What should be seen with a believer, which is not seen with an unbeliever, is a pattern of less sinning, more conviction when sinning (which only the person can "see"), avoidance of places or situations that are likely to lead to sin or are promoting sin, and confession and repentance of sin.

We do not become perfect the moment we are saved. We are justified and made new, absolutely. But our fallen nature is still there and we struggle with that. However, salvation frees us from the bondage to sin, which means we do have the power to resist sin whereas we did not before. But this does not mean we never sin again.

Is there a part of you that will enter into that rest with Jesus Christ, when you die. For to be with Christ is far better. Is that part cleaned up enough to go to Heaven, or will it have to receive another change, besides being "born again" to go to Heaven?? All seem to realize there is an inward man and an outward man. Christ dwells within the inward man and will not dwell in an unclean temple.

But David was a man after God's own heart. The principle is: "more light; more responsibility, no matter what era or dispensation one lives in. David would have indeed gone to heaven. Look at some other examples.

Moses was not allowed to enter into the Promised Land. Why? Only because he struck the rock and didn't speak to it.
Uzza was struck dead, killed by God, for looking into the ark, a seemingly harmless sin.
A boy was stoned to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath.

Don't think that it would have been harder for them under grace. No way. This dispensation is called grace for a reason. God gives grace to sinners. Before he judged sin harshly. Now he deals in grace.

We can't clean ourselves up. We are cleansed in the righteousness of Christ! That is the only way to get into heaven. If there is something I need to do to get into heaven aside from faith in Christ, then that means Christ's atonement fell short, and is a works based salvation.

Total and final sanctification is in heaven after death.

Being "born again" is not we cleaning ourselves up. I said that in no way. What I did say, was when you die a natural death, is there a part of you that has been cleaned up by the blood of Christ that will enter into Heaven to be with Christ until the resurrection? Are you trying to get around the question, of did you not really not understand it? Are you saying that a sanctification will take place for your soul at the natural death of the body, then and there, and your body will be sanctified at the resurrection? Or is the soul already been cleansed up by the blood of Christ and will go to be with Jesus at your natural death. It is not a hard question at all.

This is all that you need to be concerned with.
When the body dies the spirit goes to heaven, and the body is buried in the earth, to await the resurrection.
Don't try and divide the body up any further than that. It is fruitless. The body goes to the earth; and the spirit goes to heaven, and that is all that is needed to know. All else is irrelevant.
Be concerned about the eternal welfare of the spirit.

The Bible says: We wait for the redemption of our bodies. That is the only thing that the Lord didn't save. Sure we have a sin nature. But why let that confuse you.

Hebrews 4:12 teaches that the Word of God is able to divide asunder the soul and spirit.
When we are born again, in some inexplicable way, God's spirit comes and unites with our spirit. Our spirit is so entwined with our soul that the Word of God is able to discern between the two. But we can't. All of me, except for my body is going to heaven. Why make it any more complicated than that.

There is no "I dare you" from Paul's words. Paul's words are a question, "I" cannot be placed in the quote nor can even the thought of "I" be placed in the quote FOR IT IS A QUESTION! Paul can't even be thinking "I dare you" or #1 that would be exactly what he would say and #2 It wouldn't be a question.

Why misquote Paul just to save your position? Shouldn't rightly dividing the word of truth be the goal above all else in these debates? SHouldn't we be here to forever test our views and to make necessary adjustments as we LEARN from each others research that we can be as one mind like Jesus prayed for?

Because there is a "deep" answer to what you say. The part of you that is going to Heaven at your death, will it have sin in it? Or do you believe in sin in Heaven.

We can sin any sin a sinner can sin...

HP: If he doesn’t remember them any more, past present and future, upon what basis can He chastise a believer for sin?? Does this not smack of a Christian's life being somewhat similiar to a RC purgatory on earth?

Salvation is not a ticket to sin. When the Holy Spirit comes and takes up residence in the body, the body become the temple of God. (1Cor.6:19,20)

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Though we do have a sin nature, it is the Holy Spirit that puts that desire in us to do the things that God would have us to do. He begins a work in us.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

And that "good work" God keep working in me. He keeps changing me. I fail many times. Every day I sin. Every day I come to the Lord and confess my sin. My fellowship is restored with God.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

But my salvation is never in question. God gave me eternal life, and that eternal life can never become temporary. He will never take it back. It can never be lost. At salvation I became his child. I will always remain his child no matter what happens to me; no matter if I happen to fall into grievous sin (God forbid that should ever happen). Unfortunately it has happened to some. It is not up to us to judge their salvation. "The Lord knows them that are his."
We are to restore such a one back to fellowship with God, not assume that because of one grievous sin, he is not saved.

My salvation rests upon the shed blood of Christ, not on anything that I may have done or not have done.
