By staying as far away form these as possible! :tongue3:
With all due respect, Mr. Steve Anderson has no real interest in interacting, but only wants someone to click on his site and (usually) read his (or those he approved from someone else) sermons, IMO. IF I'm wrong in this, I apologize, But that is how it looks to me.
And frankly, I'm not interested in such tactics.

P.S. I don't have any spare TVs to donate to the cause!

Then perhaps we can turn his topic into something fruitful? Can any of the good IFB'ers (you know who you are) give me a list of names of good preachers and were to hear them if possible (you know who they are)? Does anyone know of any good churches in the Dallas, TX area? I'd really like to know. I believe that the IFB's are one of the few out there who are taking the bible seriously and are working hard to fullfill the great commission, and I'd really like to work to change it's image and help reform it, but I can't do that unless I can seperate the wheat from the chaff, and there is a lot of chaff!

From what I've learned, their are four main groups of IFB's. There's the BBFI group (too liberal and compromising), the Jack Hyles group (too mean, legalistic and shallow), the Bob Jones group (don't know enough to comment), and the Independent "Independents" group, for a lack of a better term. It is this last group that I feel is most true and that I could fellowship with and would want to be a part of. Then there's a fifth group that comprises the nutballs, like F. Phelps, G. Riplinger, P. Ruckman, etc., and their associated websites. I don't even consider these people IFB's at all or much of anything else for that matter.

As of now, the only IFB preacher I've actually learned something from and enjoy hearing preach is David Cloud. This guy actually writes some books worth reading and does some research in backing up the things he says, and doesn't resort to name calling or use moronic language, and also works hard as a missionary. Like him or not, this is the type of IFB that I could follow.

Please, I'm only asking IFB'ers for help with lists of IFB preachers/churches. I don't need to hear from the rest about what a fool I'am, why I should dump this group and join their side, what an idiot David Cloud is, etc., and blah, blah, blah.

Here's a link that I think might be helpful.

    http://ifbpreaching.com/links.html

There are links on that page that have some decent, non-compromising preaching.

I would like to say a amen to that. The man who started this thread is one of those types. We need preachers who will preach with power from God and then comes the Holy Ghost heat!!!

If you were to ask many of the brethren today if a
    a sermon
    • preached in a monotone from a written out manuscript held close to his face as the preacher was near sighted.
    • by a Calvinist Congregationalist (then the established of Massachusetts Bay Colony) church pastor assigned to that particular parish.
would be a message to light the fires of an Awakening in his hearers. Most would laugh in your face and then preach against such an idea.

However, from what I've heard such were the circumstances of Jonathan Edwards preaching of Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.

You are saying he preached with fire, right?

The fire of the Holy Spirit, yes. But not what many expect fire to be today. I dare say his message was wrapped up in a plain brown paper bag.

I think both conservative and liberal groups have missed the point that it's not in the words, the manner, or in the mental prowess of the minister, but in the power of God flowing through the service in the person of the Holy Spirit, awakening men to their hell-bound, lost condition and quickening the saints to a God-honoring life.

I agree, Spoudazo. and the power of God is called down on a message through faithful prayers......more than just the preacher is responsible for this. Isn't it said of Moody that he had men praying for God's power throughout every sermon he preached?

Yep, 'tis true indeed. A few years ago we started having all night prayer services at our church before every special revival service (usually7-8 times per year or so). Every since then, many in our church have been saved and the Lord has blessed. May He continue to do so for His glory!

Reading the Bible and posting the sermons given by Jesus would suffice. It might show some shout, stomp, and spit preachers how it is to be done.

Don't expect to get any answers from Pastor Anderson. He's a drive-by poster, who appears to be interested only in promoting his website--not engaging in any kind of discussion.

Guess there's nothing wrong with that, and feel free to contribute to site. Just don't expect to have a conversation with him.

Yes, I guess when Jesus was overturning the tables and chasing people out of the temple with a whip, He made sure His blazer was buttoned and He didn't speak loud and intensive.
