Can, or should the Electoral College stop Trump from being President?

In the state of Illinois, the population density of Chicago and its suburbs far outweighs basically the rest of the state. Chicago is primarily democrat; so Illinois elections, as a generality, tend to favor democrats. The "voice" of the rest of the state is left unheard; and thus, issues that affect the less densely populated areas tend to be ignored.

I believe there's a valid reason our forefathers implemented the electoral college.

Along these same lines I read that outside the NYC metro area Hillary won outstate New York by less than 1,000 votes. Of course she won 82% of the metro votes.

Obama won both the popular vote and the electoral college vote. So, yes he won fair and square regardless of whether you like him or not.

Trump did not win the popular vote. No mandate for him from the majority of people who voted.

But your answer has nothing to do with the legality of an electoral college voter changing his vote.

My point was ta the main reason givn to even do that was debunked, as the Russians di not do tat, but amolewit DNC did!

It's a ruse, The liberal progressives and the marxist press supposedly want the EC victory invalidated because Trump is not qualified to be president and Hillary won the popular vote.

But their desperate attempts show that they really do not want what Trump is offering - namely a conservative SCOTUS to ward off socialism/marxism and constitutional lawlessness to achieve that end result (IMO of course).

How blind must they think the irredeemable deplorables who cling to their guns and bibles are?
Who's to blame (according to them) for the apparent Trump/Pence victory?

Fox News did it.
Comey did it.
Fake News did it
The Rust Belt used defective voting machines that's why.
The Russians hacked the voting machines that's why.
The Rust Belt counts were wrong and needed to be recounted that's why.
The Russians hacked the DNC email that's why.

Wait! how about their favorite? - Bush did it!

Real answer Hillary and her extra-curricular activities did it.

So there is no reason to side step the Electoral College vote.

How about he truthg, that she is a poor candidate, and was NOT anywhere near as effective one as he rhusband was, as he also lied a lot, but made it believable!

Uhm, I think I said that both implicitly and explicitly.

He won 2008 fair and square ... 2012 is a different story, and if you were truthful you'd admit that Clinton lied her rear-end off about Benghazi to save the election for her boss. History may one day show this little chink in his armor, but every American who can read knows he cheated to win 2012 by covering up Benghazi.

Had the truth about Benghazi been revealed, he would have lost to Romney. No Ruskies interferring, just the DNC making sure their man got his second term.

You may kick and hollar all the way to the doctors office, ctb, but, you know Benghazi would have been the nail in his coffin, just like all the wiki-leaks were nails in Hillaries pine box.

Selah! Shalom!!!

I don't know how many or how few faithless electors will defect to Hillary. But I have confidence their effort will come up short.

Who knows -- there may be some faithless electors who are supposed to go "with her" and yet
may switch to Trump out of spite. That's something the Dems may not have considered.

Would this not be absolutely un-nerving to the left, if Trump ended with, say 320 EV rather than his present 306??????!!!!!
Pure joy to see the libs virtually eat each other alive for trying to subvert the normal process!!! ⛈

Popular vote was never meant to elect the President. The States elect the President. If it was strictly by popular vote, then a few highly populated urban centers would dictate everything to the rest of the country. We are a constitutional republic and I am glad we don't have that kind of mob rule here.

Well, Jill Stein was an embarrassment to them when Trump actually GAINED votes from the Wisconsin recount.

How quickly she disappeared when the Michigan and Pennsylvania "Hot Potatoes" were thrown back into her lap.

Couldn't they select Pense instead of Trump.....honestly I have no confidence in the Donald. His VP is much more fit to be President. I think most would agree with that!

Most who voted for the team? I think not --some of course --but not most.

But given the unlikely scenario.....if it was to happen & you were in a position to sanction just who would be POTUS, would you seriously choose Trump over Pense? If so, please explain.

you do know of course guys that Trump is a Manhattanite. Are you implying his own neighbors think he is the wrong choice for President?

Yes, yes I am. Especially when you consider that Mitt Romney also got 18% of the NY metro vote in 2012, same as Trump got this year. In other words, they didn't like Trump any better than they liked outsider Romney.

Maybe he (Trump) can hold his next rally in NYC.....may I suggest Madison Square Garden for the venue. Perhaps then he could make friends  with his fellow New Yorka's (and upset Mayor Deblouseo) for screwing up traffic. :Biggrin

Now I take subways & trains so I could avoid (somewhat) the tumult.:Thumbsup
