In short, over the last five years they continue to look more like a bunch of unkempt , drugged, liquored up frat boys, and their poor behavior and activities do not portray the mystique of elite group of highly secret, covert men willing to do whatever it takes to defend the prez.

Where they once looked in control, they look disheveled and definitely BEATABLE. Which means Obama's life is no longer in good hands?

What say you?

I wonder sometimes if it is because the Secret Service has, subconsciously, decided the life of Obama is not worth theirs. They are wrong of course. However, sorry a president he is, he is still president and must be protected!

The secret service are the same bunch of "unkempt , drugged, liquored up frat boys" that they were 30 years ago. What's changed is the infiltration of media into everything.

It's the same reason that people have the (incorrect) assumption that our children are in danger of abduction more than ever. The facts tell us otherwise, but the increased media coverage gives us false impressions.

What % of the total force of the Secret Service are actually unkempt, ect. Goes back to the ole - Dog bites man- not news, Man bites Dog = news.

I have a friend who is retired secret service. He says they are not in fact the same as the once were and he is severely disappointed with what they have become.

I had a few dealings (professional) with them during the Clinton and the Bush years. I can only say that at that time they were impressingly professional. They struck me as very serious about their job.

What is "POYUS"? Mocking play with a word?
Note: slightly edited for emphasis

My guess is that the person hit "Y" accidently as it is next to the "T" on the keyboard.

Thus it should read POTUS

I have thought for awhile that the SS sees no need to protect Obama. They probably know better than anyone how narcissistic he is. While they are wrong to not give him the best protection they can, I do see their actions very much as a commentary on the person who holds the office of President. From day one it seems they have not had the same respect for Obama as they have had for previous presidents which speaks volumes about how Obama treats them.

The actions of the SS in recent years do not reflect lack of concern for the President as much as it does reflect a lack of discipline.

I don't know anything more than the average Joe about the Secret Service but I attribute their condition to two factors that have changed over the last decade:

1) Their oversight now comes from the Department of Homeland Security.

2) The President - from the very start he made it clear that he would continue to use his Blackberrry, no matter what they said. His respect of their position is necessary to fulfill their role of his protection; when that is depredated it effects their moral. It looks to me like 0bama doesn't respect anyone except himself.
