Can you be gay and go to heaven?

On another forum this question was posed and an interesting answer came forth! Yes you can be gay and go to heaven if you totally and completely refuse to act upon your impulses to commit gay acts.

This was so interesting, I thought I'd seek your views and opinions on this view! Just in case you ask?! I do agree that this response holds theological and scriptural weight.

Honestly, that sounds suspiciously like a works based salvation.

Can I be a sinner and still go to heaven?

As in all things, the definition of terms matters. "Gay" can encompass different viewpoints depending on you talk to. For some "gay" means being an active homosexual. Others include under the "gay" umbrella individuals who struggle with same-sex attraction even if they do not act on the temptation. I believe it is possible for a Christian to struggle with same-sex attraction, while at the same time continually repenting of those desires and not acting upon them. It is similar to an alcoholic who lives a sober life even though he may constantly be tempted to take a drink. While I do not believe people are born "gay", I do recognize that human beings are born in sin and into a fallen world. Many Christians have been saved out of depraved lifestyles, whether it be homosexuality, promiscuity, adultery, drunkenness, drugs, violence, criminal activity et. al. The temptation to engage in those actions may never disappear completely and sometimes believers will fall back into those old deeds for a time. The real proof is genuine repentance. Will the individual repent and once again walk in faith?

Yes, you can be gay and go to heaven.
You can be active homosexual and go to heaven. Like all sins, Christians flaunting grace has consequences.

I think that you can be gay and go to heaven, but you might have a problem getting there if you engage in those type of abominable and sinful acts that the Scriptures describe concerning this type of lifestyle.

Really? Do you mean that if I as a straight married man engage in adultery I will be received into Gods holy abode?
Are you saved? (Yes)
Can you lose that salvation? (No)
Can a saved man go to Hell?

Are you saved?

Yep, I have been saved by the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Now you answer the question I posed earlier. To wit, can I go out as a married man and commit adultery and be received into God's holy abode?

I reject the "Once Saved, Always Saved" doctrine. If Adolph Hitler claimed to be "saved" yet continued with his plan to kill millions, he will get into heaven? That is crazy!

Hitler was never saved.
In your opinion, if a saved person becomes unsaved, can he ever be saved again?
How big a sin does it take to unsave you?
Murder?
Adultery?
Telling a lie?
How about hating a brother?
Lusting after a woman?
Cussing?

How do you know that? Maybe he asked Jesus to be his Savior and he kept it to himself.

Pete Buttegeig claims to be saved, yet he continues on with his despicable lifestyle and he even thinks he is married to another man with God's blessing no less. He supports the aborting of babies after birth and uses the Scriptures to justify everything he believes. Is he getting in with the way he is presently living his life? I wouldn't bet on it.

Only with a sincere repentance and change of how one is presently living their lives can heaven be attained.

Let's leave the hypothetical people out and talk about you or me, whichever you choose.
In your mind, what sin would cause you to lose your salvation. Name the smallest sin (by man's standards) that would cause you to lose your salvation.

While there is no specific sin that can cause us to lose our salvation, willful and continual sin without genuine repentance is evidence that a person was never saved. Which one of us never struggles with sin? Which one of us would like the thoughts of our heart or the deeds we do in secret made visible to for all to see? The real question is whether we are growing in grace by continually mortifying the deeds of the flesh and displaying the fruit of genuine repentance; all of which is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. Also, as in the case with Pete Buttigieg, his theology is so far outside the bounds of orthodox Christianity that his claim to be a Christian cannot be taken seriously.

It is quite impossible for any homosexual to defend the practice and possess the Spirit of Christ. Homosexual practice and or defense of the practice is the direct result of not wanting to retain God in their knowledge. So any claim of Christ by them is a false Christ (changing the Truth of God into a lie) and not the Christ of the Bible. God calls it a reprobate mind manifesting itself with homosexual practice and defense. It is spitting directly into the face of God.

Romans 1: 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

For those who keep claiming that the fruit of the Spirit is a "works-based" salvation must abandon the Pauline Epistles for a time (they are too much meat for them) and focus only on the Gospels and the General Epistles. God says those are unlearned and unstable leading to their own destruction.

2 Peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The meat of the Word within the Pauline Epistles is contained in their contexts which, by the way, mirror of Lord's direct teachings in the Gospels. However, the weed gainsayers and their proselytes pluck out and isolate passages from their contexts to justify the works of the flesh in them that supposedly "believe" but routinely practice or defend the works of the flesh and not the works of the Spirit.

Throw away the merchandise from the gainsayers which teaches this error of the wicked making the Word of God of none effect with their traditions (just as the pharisees of Christ's Day) and listen only to God's Word and His Spirit will teach you if you truly are seeking Him.

If a gay person comes to Jesus in repentance, belief, & submission, same as a hetero, he/she will be saved. And such a person, if truly saved, will refrain from engaging in homosexual acts & seek to abolish homosexual thoughts.

God occasionally "cures" a gay into becoming hetero, but not often. Homo feelings will be a 'burden' to that person, same as a physical disability. But yes, it's possible for a gay person to be saved. (Billy Graham once taught a brief lesson about this.)

In your mind, what sin would cause you to lose your salvation.

It would not be just one sin, but a complete rejection of trying to live a holy life in Christ. Yes, that would do it. If one sins in some manner, let's say adultery, repents and turns away from such things, the sin has been forgiven and your relationship with God is restored. If however, one refuses to repent and continues on with such a lifestyle that you know is deeply wrong and contrary to God's dictates, then you are toast - you have lost your salvation.

God's standard for salvation is belief. If we have faith in Christ and believe in following his Word though the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we will be saved. The lost continue to be lost not because of any sin or sins but because they don't believe. The sin is just the "Works" of their unbelief. So, someone who has lost their salvation (or as can be supported by the Scripture, never was actually saved) it is because of their unbelief. They are unrighteous because of their unbelief. This is a quick summary of this concept so there is much more to this subject than that, but this is the starting point to understand this concept.
