"Canada is heading toward full-blown authoritarianism"

The source for this post from X is supposedly Michelle Rempel Garner, a Canadian Member of Parliament.

"Canada’s Liberal Regime Moves to Censor Free Speech Ahead of Election!

As Trudeau’s government faces a possible election, the Liberals are ramping up their war on free speech—proposing even MORE censorship to silence opposition and control the narrative.

Senior Liberals are openly discussing banning X in Canada—a desperate attempt to eliminate independent voices before the election.

Bill C-11 & Bill C-18 already restricted online news, leading to a government-controlled narrative.

Bill C-63 (‘Online Harms Bill’) would allow the government to jail citizens for ‘thought crimes.’

Conservatives are demanding financial transparency from unelected Liberal leader Mark Carney, but mainstream media is burying the story.

A direct assault on free speech!

@realDonaldTrump @POTUSCanada is heading toward full-blown authoritarianism. The Trudeau regime is actively silencing voices before an election."

@JDVance– Imagine this happening in America. Censorship at this scale is the hallmark of tyranny.

@elonmusk – Trudeau’s Liberals are seriously considering banning X in Canada to crush opposition voices. Will you stand against this?

Let us help Canadians, fight back!

Stay informed & spread the truth!"

The Liberals were reading for total wipe-out until Trump stuck his size 12 in, and allowed Trudeau to come over all patriotic. Now it's quite likely that the Liberals will win and the whole left-wing agenda will plough on.
Moral: if you want good relations with your neighbours, don't threaten them and stick tariffs on them. Or if you do, don't be surprised if they don't like you very much

It wouldn't worry me if I lived in Canada. You couldn't pay me enough to have an X (stupid name!) account.

yeah, they got this new guy to replace Jussie, and he's got an even worse case of TDS. - Mark Carney of the Liberal Party. He was selected by his party on the first ballot. It's said he's going to call a national election by the end of this month,, and I think Martin here is right, he will win, in part due to Trump getting the Canucks all riled up. Poilievre needs to make it a race between he and Mark, not Mark and Donnie.

As for their authoritarianism, Jussie jumped the shark when he had all those Canadiian truckers' bank accounts frozed.

I was hoping an actual Canadian like @Silverhair (who supposedly lives in Alberta) could tell us more.

KY it is not, supposedly lives in Alberta, I do live here and yes the Liberal party is trying to control free speech. That is just one of the reasons why Alberta is at such odds with the Liberal party.

We have the NDP to thank for much of the mess we are in as they are more inline with communism than democracy. Thy have kept the Liberals in power by adding their votes to give them a majority in parliament.

All we can hope for is that we have federal election soon and we get the CPC in power with a clear majority.

Carney is just Trudeau 2.0 and he is actually worse the 1.0 ever was and he was bad enough.

As Martin said the Liberals were set to be wiped out until Trump open his mouth. If the Liberals win they can thank Trump.

From what I have seen the Liberals denied over half the ballots cast. Carney was installed as leader long before the vote was taken.

The Liberals are a corrupt as the day is long. Just look at all the scandals they have had under Trudeau.

Canada's only hope is an early election and that the CPC wins big.

Have to agree with your first comment. If the Liberals win, well it will not be a country worth living in. You may see the four western provinces split form Canada, northwestern Ont. might even come with us. We would have the resources needed by the world and ports through which to send them.

that's what I heard, that about 2/3 of the Liberal Party members were preventing from voting, so this Carney person won on the first ballot with around 85% of the vote. Roughly like Kamala and the DNC last year, so maybe this will have the same result.

Carney is a globalist, a climate activist, and they call him "Marx Carmey". I thought he wanted the election soon in order to capitilize on the anti-Trump sentiment in Canada now. Trump's trolling and tarriff threats are having a backlash, and the Liberals want to ride the wave. I'm not that up on Canadian politics, but Poilievre would handle things much better, even Trump.

We can only hope clearer heads prevail when the election comes.

The biggest thing is we have to get past the MSM as they think Carney is the best thing since sliced bread.

They will not point out his faults or that he is a carbon tax zealot.

Time will tell.

I won't pretend to be any sort of expert on Canadian politics, but my pastor's daughter married a Canadian and lives somewhere between Calgary and Vancouver, in what is called the Canadian Bible belt. My understanding is that while they dislike the Liberal government intensely, they are patriotic Canadians and would not countenance becoming Americans.

We'll see.

It was a troll to get you involved, and it worked.

You did not need to be a troll KY. I would have commented on that view anyway.

I agree that if the Liberals get back in then we are headed down a dark road.

But we will never be a part of the US as we do not need any more nut bar politicians than we have now.

Well, I'm not receiving any compensation for reading X, it's free for me at the entry level, I get news really quick directly from all the 'big names' (I follow conservatives and liberals alike), and it's entertainment with plenty of excellent memes.

I hope you're right. I don't want you. I read a post from a Canadian warning that "even the most conservative of Canadians are more liberal than the average American liberal". We've more than enough liberal states as is. Don't need any more.

Not sure who you were speaking to but the conservatives I know are quite conservative in their views.
