Our biggest threat is not Trump it is Carney and the Lib's.

FYI, I take no pleasure at all in what's happening to the good folks of Canada, I've always considered that you are friends, but, business is business regardless of friendship, and this is what a lot of this is about (other than the US is trying to save itself from insolvency).

The USA is just proving that there are unreliable and do not hold a signed agreement as something to honor.

Business with out integrity is not business it is just mob rule, each man for himself.

Does NAFTA allow Canada to tariff the U.S., but not the U.S. to return in kind?

"One of the main results of the Agreement is the elimination of tariffs between Canada, Mexico and the United States on nearly all qualifying goods by the year 2003. Chapter 5 of the Agreement attempts to ensure that customs procedures will facilitate trade flows as much as possible."

And then Trump choose to ignore that rule. As I said USA can not be trusted to hold to signed agreements and you just proved it.

Remember he is the one that started the tariff war. The man can't even get the numbers straight. He just throws out those numbers and some people believe it.

sorry, I think I meant Alberta, I always try to think Alberta is that middle one in normal Canada. Mantobia is probably the least normal of the three.

this thing replaced NAFTA a few years back:

don't really see much difference here from the old one. Look at the GDP, America's is a monster compared to the other two, so a trade war will probably be much harder on them.

I heard PP closed very weakly, and I think many underestimated Carney. Another theory:

Jack Poso

@JackPosobiec

Liberals won 80% of high-immigrant districts in Canada Canada's population is now 25% foreign-born, and set to increase This is what they want for America

Separation is sounding better and better all the time. I have had enough of these nutbar liberal thinkers.

"BREAKING: Alberta introduces bill to hold a referendum vote on leaving Canada"

"Looks like Alberta isn’t much into this goofy Carney show!! Welcome to the US!! Just don’t vote for any commies!!"

"Alberta is Canadas Texas"

"Come on Alberta. Bring BC with you."

"I tried to tell people this would happen."

"I was thinking about Alberta last night and really think it would be a good fit for the US and Alberta. I can't give an objective reason. I say YES"

"We will see how conservative they are."

"Woohoo! There is intelligent life in Canada!"

"It would be much easier (& preferential) for the MAGA loving people of Alberta to move south than any chance of Alberta leaving Canada. The hurtles they'd have to go through would absolutely stymie any chance of it happening. Waste of time & money for a non-starter."

"They can leave Canada and become their own country. If they join the US there's a good chance they just get new masters to steal their resources and unfairly tax them."

"Good for them"

"Start designing that USA 51 star flag eh?"

"Thank a moron who voted for the Liberal party"

Joining the US would be a selling point for most of us in Alberta. Would be better for us to form our own country. Man, Sask, Alb and BC. We have the power the resources and access to both oceans.

The west is tired of the central gov. telling us what to do and not listening to what we want and need.

That happens in both Canada and USA so why leave Canada to join the US and get the same thing.

But I do see that some {10} states want to leave the US and join us so that could be something we would look at in the future.

The source for this post from X is supposedly Michelle Rempel Garner, a Canadian Member of Parliament.

"Canada’s Liberal Regime Moves to Censor Free Speech Ahead of Election!

As Trudeau’s government faces a possible election, the Liberals are ramping up their war on free speech—proposing even MORE censorship to silence opposition and control the narrative.

Senior Liberals are openly discussing banning X in Canada—a desperate attempt to eliminate independent voices before the election.

Bill C-11 & Bill C-18 already restricted online news, leading to a government-controlled narrative.

Bill C-63 (‘Online Harms Bill’) would allow the government to jail citizens for ‘thought crimes.’

Conservatives are demanding financial transparency from unelected Liberal leader Mark Carney, but mainstream media is burying the story.

A direct assault on free speech!

@realDonaldTrump @POTUSCanada is heading toward full-blown authoritarianism. The Trudeau regime is actively silencing voices before an election."

@JDVance– Imagine this happening in America. Censorship at this scale is the hallmark of tyranny.

@elonmusk – Trudeau’s Liberals are seriously considering banning X in Canada to crush opposition voices. Will you stand against this?

Let us help Canadians, fight back!

Stay informed & spread the truth!"

I think the article I posted was referring to naturalized citizens, and they can vote, and they vote overwhelmingly liberal:

the three big cities - Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are where they settle and they're already Liberal. According to this other article, Carney's win is heating up the separatist movements that the COVID regulations and trucker fiasco started:

I hope they do secede, the rest of Canada doesn't deserve them.

Rather say in Canada if they treat us a equals not just a source of $$.

But if not we will do just fine on our own but do not think we will be on our own as Man, Sask & BC will do the same.

Might've been Trump's strategy all along. You yourself have considered it, don't put it past Trump's ability to do the same.

If you are referring to my comment of "joining the US being a selling point" that was not that joining was a good idea just that going independent was a good idea.

Being part of USA does not have much traction up here.
