A local bank/radio station encouraged folks in our small city to donate. Water, non-perishable food, and items for clean up - chain saws, yard equipment, etc.
Paranoid that the things might "disappear" or be stolen before reaching the Picayune area, the folks welded the doors of the semi trailers shut rather than just chain or padlock them.
At the port of entry they were weighed and found to be over the weight restrictions. No one could open the doors, so the highway people used a blow torch to cut through the welds.
And the smoke still rises in the night sky as the lead truck burned . . .
Amazing.
