Depending on who you listen to, Obama was either snubbed, or he knew comrade Castro would not be at the airport. But if Raul could be there for the Pope and the Russian president, one has to wonder?

The Obama administration surely knew that Castro would not be at the airport. For goodness sake, the first visit of a US president in over 50 years, you can be sure the diplomatic protocols were discussed and known ahead of time.

Oh wait....I get it. You said, "Depending on who you listen to" and the article pointed out Donald Trump's tweet:

Wow, President Obama just landed in Cuba, a big deal, and Raul Castro wasn't even there to greet him. He greeted Pope and others. No respect.

Good grief. The Donald is now the arbiter of diplomatic protocol, I see. More ignorance and hubris, as is to be expected of future nominee.

How many times, do you suppose, Obama has met a foreign head of state at the airport? Formal receptions are at the White House (the home of the president, just to make a point).

So Raul met Francis and Putin at the airport? Well, the Russians were the allies of the Castros for decades, and Raul was eager to wrap himself in the mantle of Francis, who is the leader of the world's Roman Catholics (or antichrist, according to some on this board, when it's not Obama himself). Obama represents a country that has been vilified by the Cuban regime for six decades as the Great Satan (if, of course, scientific materialists would acknowledge a satan if they saw one, preferring to call it the tool of capitalism or some such) and whether you like it or not Obama represents democracy (with lower case "D") unlike the proto-fascist Putin and Francis, who seems to have democratic instincts but represents an institution regulated by hierarchy.

In any case, Raul's discomfort at the press conference — how dare anyone ask such questions? — was well worth the whole trip.

For one thing, Cuba is an apartheid state and the Castros and also Che have a long, well-documented history of racism. Obama does not care because he is willing to fawn on the murderers in order to have history say that he fawned on murderers.

Pope Francis is a pure Peronist and is in good company with the likes of Castro, Kirchner, Maduro, Morales, and the child-molester Ortega.
