Catholic church STILL PERSECUTES Christians

That is really strange, because I have a good friend (local pastor) that went to Bolivia last yr on a mission trip. Our denomination has missionaries there, and our State convention has undertaken a project of putting solar lights in villages that will help education, churches, and so forth... I have a few friends that go there at least every 2 months to help with missions, and no word about being persecuted by Catholics...

As a matter of FACT... My friend that went down last yr got to participate in a Catholic service! And he is not a Rome lover.

What kind of "Christian" missionary would participate in the blasphemy called the Roman Catholic mass? Does he visit Catholic Marian shrines too and bow before idols?

I'm sorry but a pastor lacking that much spiritual discernment and biblical schooling I feel sorry for his church.

In predominantly RC countries where the RC population takes their faith very seriously - we often find persecution of non-Catholics - refusing them jobs and public office is the most common form - with some extremes going to the level of burning churches as the OP points out.

The REAL question is whether explicit and direct statements by the Pope TO THOSE RC groups would have NO EFFECT AT ALL as you seem to imply.

Frankly- given the way they mob his visits to their country states it is UNLIKELY that they are ignoring him. These countries represent nation states where he has the MOST influence -- not the LEAST.

It is no accident that the golden age for the RCC - was the Dark Ages for mankind.
